Why is the above poster using that quote to defer back to bashing Westside? It had nothing to do with them, right? Man, as a BSC parent it’s getting pretty old watching the same nutbag come on here and look for every excuse to trash that club and the twelve year old little boys in this age group. Move on, dude.

Geography and chitty traffic have limited that possibility. I know the desire is there from the local parents to have an option to hold the TA accountable and have another top team, but trying to find a club and location to make that happen is the current issue.

This has long been the issue but you will see that by u15 the alpha males who may want to play in college will ALL migrate to three clubs: FC Portland, Westside Timbers, and GPS. Washington Timbers may get lucky and hold onto a good team for this age group in the high school years, but historically the top males that have good grades and want college opportunities go to those clubs. I threw in GPS because they have become a national giant and have a college placement program. Time will tell.

Ummmmmm,

1. my child has played for both groups.
2. The whole group has traveled together to Seattle twice for Friendlies and San Diego twice. 3. We’ve done two poker fundraisers together. The two teams practice together four times a week.
Trust me, I know the parent group. Just because your club doesn’t have a culture like that doesn’t mean you have to get all pi$$y. Relax.

Keep drinking the koolaid Mama. You are clearly new to the world of youth soccer. You are in for a world of hurt when you discover that FCP is not all rainbows and unicorns. You are wearing the goggles.

Nothing against GPS but they have no body of work, in the history of Oregon Soccer that would ever reflect, they once were or will ever be a relevant club in boys competitive soccer . They made their first and only OYSA club state cup (99 boys)semis appearance last year, with basically an above average 6A HS team in age group(99) that was beyond weak due to the newly instituted birth year format. The same age group (99) also featured Corvallis (a very good 5A HS team) as a club semifinalist & finalist.

Yes, the best of the best boys migrate to Westside & FC. Each club has the hardware, college placement & professional players produced to back up this reality.

Just to be clear I'm throwing out your reference to GPS based on facts available.

I can’t speak to Oregon as they are new in the monster machine that is Global Premiere Soccer, but from a resource standpoint the club has a sophisticated college placement program. Our older son was invited with a friend to a “college info” night at GPS with counselors and speakers for the high school players. He’s a junior and our BSC coach/club has never offered anything like that.

DA is too watered down for any team in this area to compete at regional/national tournaments. If US soccer was interested in developing talent they would limit the amount of clubs who are sanctioned.

Cue some parent telling us there's no way to know if their 55th best kid in the age group isn't actually a pro player in disguise once puberty or lightning or the mood strikes him.

Hate to add to this and risk the ire of a Westside parent....but here goes. For this age group, whether DA or OYSA, I believe the person is referring to Westside 05's over the past several years. I know some of you will say that "we had all of the best kids at one point....we had kids jump ship and go to FCP, so really we were the best at this age group....My response would be, and is, what has Westside 05 ever won? Nothing. Did they have a lot of talent? Absolutely! Did they ever win anything? No. Not hating. Just clarifying.
