You sound like a Westside supporter (enabler). Sod off mate.
They will say, "This is not good. They give the ball away cheaply and rely on whacking it up to that fast kid on the flank who is not good but at least has pace. That kid in the midfield can play, but every time he gets it the parents yell at him to go forward. He could be a nice player if surrounded by kids who knew thing one about how to play. Alas, he is not. Because this team is bad."

When you understand that counting is mostly futile, and the number of turnovers that happen for no reason start to make you feel like your soul is being sucked through a straw, then you will have achieved a state of readiness for the following conclusion: this is bad.
Let it wash over you. Breath the cool air. Close your eyes and listen to the parents yelling about offsides or whatever. Listen for the coaches bleating "unlucky" when some charge of theirs farts a ball over the sideline without a care in the world. Listen to how quiet the kids are.
It is a symphony.

And by the way I could say the exact same thing about all the teams I have seen play here, Washington and California. Many times the ball gets given away and not possessed they are 12!

But when a team knows how to keep the other team from taking the ball, they soon find that bringing the ball up the field is a more reliable way to build an attack than booting it there.
There's a reason a few teams each year start the season hot--winning the summer tournaments and doing well in fall league--but end up on the back end of 7-0 blowouts in the spring. The smarter teams focus on possession, don't worry about early season results, and are able to make mincemeat of the bootball teams once the players have learned and bought into the notion that having the ball, and not losing it, is important.

In this lower plane of soccer development, POSITION (keeping the ball away from your own net) is more important than POSSESSION (keeping the ball at your own feet). Just boot it long, pressure the other team's defense (many of which are selected for their ability to mark and tackle, but like a dog who catches a car, have no clue what to do with it once they've taken it from the opponent) into making a mistake, and voila! Goal.

That was your one win against the top 4 teams last year. I guess we will see how good your "possession" is in a few weeks since you seem to have not cared about early season results so far based on your record.....
And of course, Crossfire wasn't the only run-and-gun team to get whipped in said fashion (PCU, Bend, Eugene, and even WashT getting beaten down on regular occasions), and Westside wasn't the only technical team to deliver such a beating. Crossfire was terrible last spring, going 2-4-3. Westside scored as many goals against you in that one game as you scored all spring season. To your credit, you rebounded somewhat and got to the State Cup quarterfinals, but the four semifinalists were all technically skilled teams, as were the four teams at the top of the Spring League table. (FC may have gotten most of it's offense through Gunder and Lightning, and we all liked to make fun of their NFL-quality punter in goal, but they certainly knew how to play technical soccer).
But hey--you won Clash of the Border last year and were second place in Fall League. Woohoo!
