Enough you two, knock it off. Who cares? TA at this age is DA. It really doesn't matter how the TA parents feel about it, it is a fact. They play in the USDA and they are DA at this age, so move on.

Regardless of how morally corrupt and bankrupt the 05 TA process may have been, there are still parents who would kill to have their child wear the colors. It is a fact. I (and clearly others) may not feel that way but it is true. No amount of b*tching, thumping your chest, or making threatening and challenging statements on here is going to change youth soccer.

Both of you do all of us a favor. Do you. Put your Son in the best environment that he is eligible to play in, and then get out of his way. It is about the kids. Not either of you. Whether that means playing Oregon DA or Washington DA and maybe sitting on the bench the entire game, do you.

TA arrogance unjustified

The truth is, if all of the players that were offered spots on the TA prior to and after try-outs, the team would be dramatically different and much more competitive. At the B05 age, you can afford to play for your local club with the DA affiliation because at this point the DA offers exposure to those who would have interest in prying kids away from their clubs as they progress both in age and skill. Ultimately, the TA should absorb a majority of the elite talent in the area or else they will meet their own demise. At this age, TA parents shouldn't become too arrogant because the roster turnover from this age going forward will be better than 50%. We chose to stay with our club because it is a nurturing environment and weighing the travel for both practice and games vs the perceived advantages of joining the TA seemed nominal. But, going forward, if the TA is really sitting at the head of the DA table, they will continue to seek out the best talent in the area and I imagine will be able to cultivate a winning team. The one caveat would be if they were to stick with the current B05 coach and allow him to keep his own former players. I can't imagine that this would be the case because the objective should be developing the best players and forming the best team so that Oregon can compete with the teams up north in the near future and then progress towards competing on the national stage down the road. The bigger the population doesn't always mean the better the team. You can find talent from the DA all the way down to rec. You just have to have a system in place to identify talent early and an academy that is attractive to players of all backgrounds. The TA should be the one place locally where economics do not factor into where the talent comes from. If they do their job correctly, we should have a talented team from top to bottom from a diverse socioeconomic cross-section of Portland Metro area.

Not the OP, but I am a TA parent. Frankly, I will agree that I wish we had stayed with our club. The only development that has happened with this team is the development of egos and a sense of entitlement. #disenchanted.

BSC DA is playing there and in Hillsboro. Also in DA bracket at Rose City in January. We also have kids playing basketball and racing on winter ski teams. Let kids be kids.

Surprised BSC is allowing given:

“No Outside Activity/Competitions

To maintain a focus on club training environments, Academy players and teams do not play in any outside competitions without written permission from the U.S. Soccer Development Academy staff. This includes any other leagues, tournaments, State Cup competitions, ODP or All-Star events. Development Academy players for all teams must choose to participate in the Academy full-time and forgo playing for their high school teams.

Full-time Academy players can only participate on their designated Academy team, with only two exceptions: U.S. Soccer Training Centers and Youth National Team duty.

The Development Academy upholds this rule because we believe elite players require world class environments. The Development Academy's 10-month Program allows for a greater opportunity to institute style of play and implement a system according to U.S. Soccer's Development Philosophy. It also gives teams increased opportunities for younger kids in their club to "play up" against older players in both training and matches, thereby accelerating their development.”

Hillsboro Indoor isn’t even on a hard court. It wouldn’t qualify as Futsal by most standards. Those kids are just playing indoor soccer in a non-DA winter league.

Half of the futsal gyms in town use turf rather than hard courts. Tualatin Indoor, Hillsboro Indoor, PDX Sports Center, and Oregon Premier Futsal all have turf fields.

Portland Futsal had turf fields at their old location in the Brooklyn neighborhood.

Their new location, along Johnson Creek, has hardcourt.

RCF has both surfaces in their east location, hardcourt only in their Tigard location.

(And of course, basketball courts and team handball courts are both legal futsal courts, though basketball courts are smaller than preferred).

The important differences between futsal and indoor soccer are a) the ball, and b) whether or not the walls are out of bounds or not.

We just played on some Junk astro turf in this OYFL setup in an icebox, no less.

The ball was a futsal one , not soccer.

Despite this surface and frigid conditions the OYFL called it Futsal.

It was indeed just that.
