Kids this age should be FORCED to play out of the back. If they aren't, then by definition they're getting fewer touches and learning less than kids who are forced to do it.

I have no clue what that has to do with a stick or where it's lodged.
Any team that can't manage to do a short pass from the keeper/CB to one of his wings and advance the ball up that way, without it being stolen, doesn't belong in premier division.

Certain teams (last year's Navy team) punted for tactical advantage--they had a keeper that could deposit the ball in the other team's box, and big physical forwards that could dominate most opposing defenses; Navy certainly knew how to play out of the back. But the usual excuse for not doing so really ought not apply any more.

Little reality check for all the crazy parents out there (myself included) who think their youngster is the next great player. A couple recent articles about kids playing in the U20 world cup who are really the next great players ...

Another up and coming star is Takefusa Kubo, who is also playing in the U20 WC and is plays J-League now as a top pro at age 15.

        From Wiki:

In August 2011, Takefusa Kubo has been invited to join FC Barcelona’s youth Academy ,La Masia, after passing the trial. He began to play for Barca Alevin C (U11). During his first full season (2012-13), he was top goalscorer in the league with 74 goals in 30 games. In the next season (2013-14), he became MVP in the Mediterranean Cup U12 tournament. He helped his team dominating the league and winning the Catalunya Cup. In his third full season (2014-15), he was promoted to Barca Infantil A (U14). But the Catalan club was later found to have violated FIFA’s international transfer policy for under-18 youths, making Kubo ineligible to play for the club. He returned to Japan on March 2015 in search of playing time, signing with FC Tokyo’s junior youth team.

Anyone know how the odp teams represented this weekend at the timbers friendship cup?Heard that the odp group was broken into 3 teams and all the 05 boys that "made" the timbers academy were on the same team-once again without regard to ability. I guess if anyone knows the results the proof will be in the pudding as they say....

Top team did very well, beat a really good cal north team 2-1. Second team was way under sized against a lot of 03's. Some individual players distinguished themselves i would say. Tied one, lost two, won one. Not sure how the 05's did.

The official site (http://www.modular11.com/events/friendshipcup) seems to be lagging.
You can piece together the missing games at https://www.oregonsoccercentral.com/OSICORE/game/
                    I think it's something like.
                    05 PTG 1-3
                    05 PTW 4-0
                    05 PTR 0-3

Which teams are which? Is the "academy" team PTW? If not looks like it will be a lot of long bus rides and more excuses from the powers that be...

Seriously? There were three 05 ODP teams. Green which consisted only of TA players. White, 2nd team. Red, which was 3rd team. Green and white played 4 games each. Red 3 games. Green was 0-3 heading into their final match yesterday. White went 4-0 and looked very choesive. Red went 0-3.

96 "goals for" could be a new OYSA record.
