Hard fouls are part of soccer. Rescinded red cards are part of bush-league soccer. What happened in the game is unfortunate, but it's just life--especially in a final. But if that kid had a red in the semi-final, OYSA did the wrong thing.

Hilarious how ADF whines about rough play when they have 2 players on their team who don't/can't even play soccer...they just run arms out at people from behind like peewee league

To be clear, the ref (singular) at the semi decided to issue him a yellow card. As it was his second caution in the match, he was sent off. Apparently, the ref coach encouraged the referee to go ahead and issue the second yellow--it wouldn't be a surprise for an inexperience ref to keep his cards in his pocket in this scenario (state cup semifinal) rather than ejecting a player. Unfortunately, ref coaches are only supposed to provide feedback after the game and at halftime, and referees are not to depend upon them for in-game decisions; it was on this basis that the second yellow (and thus the red, and the automatic suspension) was rescinded.

Whether this is the best way to handle this--or this is a training issue for the ref and the mentor (were this a pro match I would expect the referee to be disciplined for incompetence; but for a youth game where the refs are themselves still being trained; that would be inappropriate), is another question.

Well done, crazy 05B parents. Almost 117k views. We've now passed the 03 girls thread. 00 girls are next, then 02, and finally the 01s. That, and one of the ECNL flamewars.

This thread has the makings of a star, but the 01s is a legend. Alas, boys DA may kill this thread . . . .feels like it is stealing childhood from parents.

I certainly hope he is not. Fernando is smarter than that. He hates bad attitudes and bullies.

Here's to the PeeWee's who took second against a far larger team who were forced to parole their best player! Hooorah!

I hope I offend nobody when I point out that #71 is not FC's best player. At best, he's third.

ADF, do you want your wambulance back? I love hearing the dirtiest team in the league whine about fouls and physical play. I guess its Maddog 20/20 and string cheese stick time for you ADF Hippocrates....

You would not have known that when he coached ADF. He turned a blind eye to some terrible behavior frequently.

Cannot disagree... Gunther (sp?) and the keeper were both standouts. I hereby rescind my "best player" comment. Happily...

Dumb question on the 05 DA:

                          9v9 or 11v11?

I know that OYSA 05s will be playing 11v11, but last year's 04 DA played 9v9 (despite the 04s playing 11v11 in OYSA).

                            AFAIK it will be 11v11.

You are right. Not their best player, but by far their most dangers. And it is Gunder, not Gunther.
