I don't like everything Westside has done in the last few years - putting Timbers on their jersey being #1 - but trying to win state cup isn't a bad thing.
By the way, at least they are 100% transparent on it. Now go punish them for it - last minute recruiting has not always worked out well for them.

It's unfortunate these recruitments can't wait until after State Cup but this happens a lot at Premiere level so get used to it.

Crazy parents throwing money around to live vicariously through their kids turns me completely off as someone who actually got paid to play beyond highschool and college (in football) Development and the joy of the GAME has been completely lost. You crazed parents need to teach your kids commitment, hard work, loyalty and the ability to win and lose graciously. Those will be the things that carry them in life

Shame on westside for doing this mid year and especially shame on the parents of the crossfire goalie who let him QUIT on his teammates because of a perceived better chance to win. It will be hollow and meaningless unless they are that shallow. I am a new fan of crossfire, advance further than westside and I hope you have a chance to play them and put it on them

A lot of schenanigans being pulled off right now- all for 11/12 year old soccer. PARENTS/CLUBS/COACHES: knock it off, you all have lost perspective. Youth sport are supposed to teach life lessons, not quitting on teammates and making shady deals TO WIN AT ALL COSTS at this age. These examples all will catch up with you in the long run if you operate as an adult like this

Competitive balance and commitment are what we are losing as a society. Getting soft and teaching our kids to jump ship just to win (lebron to Miami and Durant to warriors are just recent examples) would have never happened in the 80's. Magic in a Celtic uniform or bird in a laker jersey would have never occurred no matter the situation.
Parents are the problem.

The whole thing is a sad commentary on the state of youth sports. Blame it on AAU. Blame it on sports center and the immediate, on demand world we live in. Kids are not being taught the right things, or for that matter taught at all. But alas, this is the world we live in. Teach your kids to honor their committment to their teammates, team and coaches. Then if you need to find a better situation for your child to develop, then do so at tryouts. But never leave your team in the midst of a season. Very sad. But again, you cannot blame Westside for lack of scruples, ethics or morals anymore than you can blame a cheeseburger for a person being fat. Both scenarios just demonstrate a lack of character. Sad.
