Crossfire website now shows acceptance for a u13/u14 DA team. So one DA team for the 04 and 05 boys combined with a cap of 20 players. Where will 05 boys play in the fall that don't get on the DA team?

Looks like poster mixed clubs or just didn't relay above. With the 2017 new DA announcement, FC Portland may have its top 3 players out of the 05 pool merge into the new u13/14 DA which will be playing 11v11. The rest of the boys will get downgraded to play with the "white" team. The DA clubs in Oregon were only expanded to include u13/U14.. so there is NO separate age bracket in Oregon for a 2005 birth year kid.
So yes... US Soccer DA is skipping over our 05s as if they are meaningless. Your 2005 can try out to make the 04/05 birth year DA Team... or stay at the club and play second or third tier soccer.. or he can try out at another club who has a premiere team. Thanks US Soccer DA!!!

I would expect a small number of 05's to make the team with the 04's. Their current team should continue in OYSA pretty much as is. A few 2nd team players will bump up to the first team to replace those that moved to the DA.

Well more than a few. A typical Premiere level roster for 9v9 is no more than 14. At 11v11 it's 20. So if your 05 doesn't make DA but wants to continue to train and compete in top level..he or she will need to find a Premiere or Elite level only club to provide this. Ask around. If you settle for a lower Division 1 blend with a handful of your Premiere leftovers, your kid needs to manage any expectations of playing higher level Soccer. Don't settle.

Since seven of the "premier or elite" clubs already offer both a DA (USSF) OYSA (USYSA) option and you prefer a specific club in that group, your child can simply tryout for the DA team at one of those age groups and if your child doesn't make it, the staff at those clubs will likely place your child on the level appropriate team at the club. You don't need to necessarily run over to a PCU/ADF/GPS type that doesn't even offer a future DA option. Or you could. Either way, you can simply stay wherever you tryout as opposed to finding another premier or elite club. You'd already be at one (and I'm sure the club that you prefer would prefer for you to stay - and keep their eyes on his/her development).
Moving forward, the top team from the clubs that offer DA will still likely be the hunt as top teams in OYSA (in addition to other three mentioned - along with other outside PDX options such as Eugene, Bend, Rogue Valley, or perhaps 4H). The new expectation for DA age groups will unfortunately be what amounts to second-tier perceived teams playing to be State Cup Champions in OYSA with the top kids from each club participating in the DA curriculum.
Hope this helps.

The above won't hold true for the 05 group. The DA teams will not have enough spots for the all of the top 05 players so there will be strong OYSA teams. And in 2018 all of 04s on the DA teams, which will represent about 85% of the roster makeup.. will move to a u/15 team.. and the current 05s in DA will be merged with the younger 06s.. so they can be their "mentors". The 05s look to be getting the short end of the stick for sure.

On the contrary, OYSA teams will be quite diluted in 2017/2018 if the 25-50% minimum USSF recommendation of 2005's in the U14/U13 local mix rings true.
At 20-25 kids per DA training squad...that's 5-12 2005's...which amounts to somewhere near the average of the top 9 kids (think the equivalent of the entire current starting lineup from WT, Washington, CFC, Crossfire, and FC) from 5 of the 7 clubs which currently play in Premier Green.
That's definitely a massive hit to top flight OYSA soccer whether 5,9, or 12 from these clubs.
But maybe there is a play out there that we're not seeing?
I think there might be.
