All in all a really good day for ADF and a not so good day for Crossfire. I will say though that contrary to what a previous poster said, ADF did not dominate the first 10 minutes of the first game....they competed for the first 10 minutes, and Crossfire overwhelmed them with pressure and missed a lot of shots. Crossfire dominated that game and ADF wilted and fell apart. The exact opposite happened this weekend. The mark of two really good teams. A swing game would definitely be a blast to watch.

The mark of two really good teams is "wilting and falling apart under pressure"?
    I don't think so!

agreed. after the first match it seemed obvious how much more emotionally mature crossfire's players were. though after yesterday it's apparent that both teams struggle with this. understandable at this age considering a lot of these kids have faced very few losses in their young careers.

Sorry, what I meant to say is that both teams are really good, are young, and are developing. So instead of making fun of either team, or tearing them down how about we just agree they are developing. I was really getting disgusted when I read all of the posts by people celebrating ADF's losses and criticizing their coaching. Or calling Crossfire a bunch of white privileged vikings? Every kid out there is 11 years old and they love soccer. Perspective.

Really? You don't think so? Well, considering that you are the expert, we will all defer to your expert opinion Mr. Dumas. Kids try and fail...and then guess what? They learn. They try again and again and again until they exceed. That is life, and...oh forget it. This is an anonymous chat room and you are a vile excuse of a human being so I will not waste my time.

I've seen lots of good teams fall apart under pressure at this age. As others have noted, we're talking about 10- and 11-year old boys, not teenagers (and certainly not adults). Even though the kids in premier are all quite good at soccer, they're still learning the game; and learning to compete.

Why come on here and talk smack? If you hate your child this much, please keep that to yourself. Thank you.

I rarely see good teams "wilt". Maybe in first grade.. but not in 5th and 6th grade. More common than not at this age, are talented players that "wilt" because they are too emotionally stressed.

We occasionally see professionals "wilt". How do you explain things like GER 7-1 BRA? While Germany was the better team that day; and Brazil was missing two of its best players; that result is generally considered an aberration--if the two teams played a series of games, Germany doesn't win by six goals (on average) each time.

Soccer is a game where it doesn't take much of a lapse in defensive focus for the other team to get a quick goal... or two, or three. And it certainly happens with sixth graders (who, despite their mad skills, are still children at that age).

I agree but my comment was in regards to youth emotional stress.

By "wilt", I mean the phenomenon in which a team (or a sufficient number of players thereon) lose focus, see a reduction in form or work rate--and as a result a give up a sufficiently large number of goals that a game that was in reach becomes out of reach. No temper tantrums, crying fits, or other displays of emotion (the sort that would certainly be inappropriate in a fifth or sixth grader) necessary--just a team faces adversity in a match, and essentially gives up, and gets blown out as a result.

Even on well-coached teams it happens; though on well-coached teams it happens less, and the coach maintains an even keel throughout.

But it doesn't take much to turn an evenly matched game into a blowout.

So, has anyone changed their mind after two weekends?
Bend, FC PDX & Westside are the only teams without a loss so far!

ADF plays both Westside and FCP this weekend, so we'll see if they're legit after all

ADF just got off to a bad start. They will run the tables from here and finish in 1st place.
                                This weekend: ADF 5 - FCP 2 and then ADF 4 - WST 1!
                                There it is!!
                                BOOM!!!!
