ODP vs ECNL - results say either or both!!

Tired of the bickering so here are some results you can use...
In my informal, quick review, I would say both ODP and ECNL have significant value in college recruiting. The rest will depend on which program works for your child and your budget.

ECNL: Here is a picture of Crossfire United's signing day this year

At least 5 went to D1 schools including 2 to Gonzaga, 1 to OSU and 1 to Oregon, 3 to PSU and 1 more to George Fox. Alex Qualls (Heading to Boise), spent time in both the ODP and ECNL. Seems like a solid result to me..

ODP in general: A quick look to Oregon's signing day list shows 10 players signed, 7 from ODP programs across the country, and 4 from ECNL.

Thorns Academy: While the Girls Academy is too new to have a good pulse on their performance, the boys side shows a solid program and I suspect the Girls side will be performing similarly soon...

Do I think it's necessary to put your DD into either of these programs - NO. Definitely not. But it certainly can help.

That sums it up. I'm sure some of the spineless TS forum worms will have snarky useless comments about each of these programs but the bottom line is that they all have their merit. Of Course, they can not guarantee your DD a D1 school or a spot on a pro team. But they can be a pathway to get there.. If you have enough money and your DD has enough drive, talent and luck...

If you think you need to spend 10k a year to go to UO OSU or Gonzaga, you clearly are as stupid as the coaches say you are.

Look at OSU and UofO's roster. How many of the kids didn't play for ecnl clubs or ODP?
Sure you can go there without ecnl or ODP experience. The intramural league will be a great experience, but if you want to play D1 soccer you better be playing youth soccer at the highest level.

They sent five to U of P, of course. UofP took seven freshman all ECNL players.

Sure you can go there without ecnl or ODP experience. The intramural league will be a great experience, but if you want to play D1 soccer you better be playing youth soccer at the highest level.

First thing a college coach will ask is "What league do you play in?" Yes ECNL around here is sorely lacking. But nationally the reality is ECNL is where the majority of D1 players come from, especially top D1 ranked programs. Currently ECNL attracts many of the country's best female players and is the most competitive league . That's why coaches shop there first for recruiting.

At least for now anyway, and probably for a few years until this GDA mess gets sorted out.
