There are no "stars" in Oregon youth soccer. Only money opportunities on the boys side. Girls side has no business model to offer the same.
So the girls can expect to foot the entire $12,000-$15,000 bill for the season.

It was such a bad model that even THUSC got rid of the Nike Cup. It became a glorified scrimmage for Thusc teams, and an opportunity for them to win a trophy.

Yes. The parents who thought they were signing on to something elite only to learn they would be doing the Beaverton cup while they placehold for a year until the really talented players from ECNL come take their spots are feeling very SURLY, indeed.

Since their cost structure is so low for girls they should clear a nice profit. They can use that to pay for boys travel. Win / win. Boys get to travel for free and girls parents feel good about helping to support boys.

They SHOULD pay for girls travel if they pay for boys. It doesn't seems fair.

Life isn't fair. And all you TA lemmings should know that by now. Nobody who has a choice lives in Gresham.

My understanding is that they pay for boys travel and fees so they probably will do the same for girls. How do you know they aren't already planning this?

"Clubs will only pay a flat registration fee for players and coaches. Clubs are responsible for all team travel expenses to their league games and events."

US Soccer isn't paying for travel nor will the Thorns. They barely pay their professional payers.

So, it's a league where the parents pay to travel again. But, this time only one outfit is fielding just 3 teams to play against the nation's best as the top shelf of the ECNL clubs have chosen to move up to the GDA. Got it.

The charter says the clubs are responsible for travel costs. If this is true the Timbers will pay for travel like they do for boys.

They will pay for the top players to entice them over from ECNL. At least the 1st year. Bait & switch. Just like "college showcase" => Beaerton Cup this year.

All that means is that US Soccer isn't paying for travel. Timbers won't be paying for it either.

Why do they need to "entice top players from ECNL"? I thought the Thorns already had the best players and were even better at developing them than the ECNL clubs are.

Or maybe that's not the complete truth???
