Maybe and no. Many clubs won't even participate. Choose your club wisely.

Players dropping out one year earleir.

It seems like the only negative impact for clubs in that the marginal 8th players will all just drop out one year earlier. Could be good. Fewer leagues. The clubs might have to raise club fees to compensate for the lost revenue. Look for a creep up in costs as this moves forward.

Seems to be only a problem at Timbers Alliance and other small, poorly run clubs.

Who is left then? At the 02B level, it is sounding like several clubs will no longer be fielding competitive teams, and kids are bolting established smaller clubs for the bigger ones.

Yes. PCU Spartans will only form two girls and boys teams.

Crossfire, FCP, WashT are the ones with the biggest groups at that age.

Was at the FC Portland 2002 boys try outs. Talked to the kids as well. It seems the team is weak and the stronger players want to play up in 2001 or leave FCP or already have positions on WST 2002 boys Copa team and will not be returning to FCP. Their goalies are also very weak. I suspect Popo will have another bad season. I kind of feel sorry for him.

Funny you say Crossfire, typical OPL lemming. Crossfire sucks. Two DOCs who are equally inept. Fraser and Brazzo are complete idiots. And if you are talking ECNL, then you have Tom who hasn't formed one good ECNL team at U14 or U15. Each team has been lousy. Mentioning Crossfire as one of the "good" clubs invalidates everything you say. And I'm not so sure about WashT given all the negative threads on here about them.

How were the 02B Eastside tryouts. Last years 02B coach bailed for Westside and took players with him. Were a lot of the boys on last years 01 team 02s?

Whatever. Crossfire is still leaps and bounds ahead of your lousy Timbers club.

Don't have kids at either Timbers or Crossfire. Gotta say, lousy timbers club relative to crossfire on the boys side is way off mark.

Age group changes a boon for LAX

It seems like many 7th graders are deciding to focus on LAX instead of soccer.

Lemming. Crossfire players left in droves this year. The club is terrible, terrible coaches, terrible DOCs. But since your kid finally made the A team, it's no wonder you think it's a good club.

LAX is fastest growing sport and is based on school grade not birth year. Advantages to many for switching to LAX
