Unless you are playing a major revenue generating sport, you are contributing nothing of value to the school; you are simply a cost. You are filling a participation mandate from the NCAA and justifying the continued employment of well-paid administrators in the athletic department. So no, it's not a job in any meaningful sense. Hard work, yes. But not a job.

Plenty don't even last that long. And many receive no money at all or so little that's it's slave wages, not even minimum wage.

Huge. It's like every 2002 in Oregon came to our club's tryouts. Many will be sorely disappointed when they get the "Thanks for coming out" email.

Our club has a ton of 02's plenty for 2 teams. But will not have an 02 team.

Getting back to age group, the kids should be playing within their ages such as U14. It will be good for those players that move up, because they will get used to playing with older players as they will be doing when they play high school and college soccer.

The new age groups go by birth year. 2003 = U14. Is that what you mean or do you mean they should play the old age groups?

What are they doing with the 8th graders who are now U15? Since they won't be playing HS in the fall, will they do something for them or will fall be a waste of time for them?

I think clubs are still sorting through that . If the leagues would just make exceptions for the fall so those kids who are stuck can play (then move after HS is over) that would solve one problem, but creates others. Those kids could really get screwed. I think our club may let them practice with the younger team all fall but they can't play league games. Maybe clubs could organize something informal since so many kids are impacted?

What's so bad about waiting for winter league in January? Why this mindset that there must be fall ball? The eighth graders can continue to train in the fall, but league won't begin until January. I know this isn't ideal, but is it really that bad?

You must come from a club where training is like a job. The kids at our club are bent out of shape each time the session is over. The sessions are so good and fun that they constantly want more.
Most kids don't have that luxury. Most club coaches are outdated and treat it as a job. Or kids play for ECNL clubs which is all about the competition and very little development.
