    Lost in the bureaucracy...

Congratulations state cup champions, you have earned the right to proudly represent Oregon at regionals... that is unless you happen to be in the boys or girls U12 age bracket. "You" get to stay home and your season is over. You see OR elected to be a leader in youth soccer and adopt a small field 9v9 format, the rest will largely follow suit next season. However, since OR did not play an 11v11 format this year you are not eligible for regional play and we will give your spot to some other team that did not actually win their state cup. Better luck next year!

Didn't have anything to do with 11v11 or 9v9 format. OYSA just decided not to send U12 champs to Colorado this year. It's not hard for a team to switch formats from game to game.

Yes, but Oregon is failing this coming this year making the '04's play 11v11.

Playing in regional cups at 11 years old is a waste and is why the rest of the world laughs at us. They also laugh at people like you that think that having your child play in tournaments on the weekend where you play 5-6 games in 48 hrs is fun. You are the problem with youth soccer. Can't you just take your kid and go play American foitball or baseball?

04's are playing 11v11 in every state this fall, except for in the USSDA U12 league (which is also for 04's).

By the time you get to U13/14, all the good tournaments are 1 game a day for the most part. It's only the rinky dink Timbers club tourneys that try to pack in 2-3 games per day.

The USSDA model should be what all player do.

3-4 training sessions to one game.
Most clubs allow their teams to do 2 training sessions to two games which is terrible.

We are failing by allowing this to happen.

Kids should be playing small sides games longer.

9v9 should be until the change of the size of ball at U13.

There should be no results posted until U16

There should be no state, regional or national cups until U16

There should be no throw ins at U5-U11. Kick ins. Dribble in if you want from U5-U10

There should be no offsides until U11

At U11 and U12 there should be an offsides line 20 yds to help open up the game.

At U13 with the change of the ball size you introduce offsides as normal.

Someone needs to have the balls to make the changes above. Those changes will help build better players

                We're already at 9v9 until U13. 04's are U13 now and playing 11v11 with a size 5 ball.

The whole idea of no standings, state cups, etc. is more for the parents than the players.

                  Really stupid statement.

Kids get excited about this stuff - silly that Oregon isn't sending teams at this age. Maybe club can find an alternative tournament this summer.

You are bouncing all over the place with your statements so you make no sense in what ever point you're trying to make here.

Actually a very wise statement. When you're kid's playing career is over you'll look back and this won't even register.
You can disagree with the 9v9 decision but in the long run it's probably best - the whole regional thing at this age is flat out not important.

when you look a lot of things aren't important; doesn't mean they aren't important in the moment

the "whole regional thing at this age" not important is garbage

Be thankful that you don't have to spend a week in Boise. Not really looking forward to it.

Your child will get over it immediately and move on especially if you can find a way to get over it. Enjoy the process and look for the positives.

Ever consider the possibility that if your team did play 11v11 they might not have won State Cup? Maybe your grousing is all for not. And next year, your team is breaking up due to the birth shift. If your kid is having to move up, I am guessing that you spent a lot of time complaining over on those threads discussing the shift.
