Nope, an honest human being who is pretty tired of a bunch of parents who think that the world of Oregon soccer rises and sets on their dd's team. Funny to see all of the mouthiness that used to be displayed on TS is now gone. It's been apparent since March that the FC U16s are a better team, they just got out of the gate much slower.

A little chip on your shoulder Dad?

You yourself just said the mouthiness that used to be displayed on TS is now gone.

The Crossfire Oregon U16 team is still much better than the FC U16 team.

The mouthiness is gone just because there is too much humble pie to eat.

I would check that comparison. Since March, FC has been the much better team. The facts don't lie. One team improved. One team got worse, by a lot.

Again, the Onyx folks base their assessment on one game. Looking at results over the past 4 months and a clear pattern shows. Overall wins and losses, results against the same teams played, head to head, ...... it all points to improvement by one team and disimprovement by the other. And one team has much better results during that time frame than the other. It's pretty clear that FC was better in ECNL than every one of the CU teams. There are a lot of ECNL clubs who got out of the gate sideways and who have not been able to right the ship. Other clubs have used ECNL to really bolster their girls programs and to provide significantly better resources because of it. FC appears to be on track to be the latter. CU, the former.

Ironically the Surf Cup does not share the same love for FC Portland 16s as they were declined acceptance. I know for a fact they applied.

If Surf were basing their decisions on the last four months, then the decision would have been reversed. However, it's no secret the CU played much better earlier in the season and that's what got them into the champions bracket in ECNL, which of course led to 3 losses. And CU has a history of going there, which also factors in. Again, and I don't know why this is so difficult for you, CU is dis-improving as the year goes along. FC is IMPROVING as the year goes along. And right now, FC is a better team. It's not even debateable that at U14, U15, U17 and U18 FC was head and shoulders above CU this year. And at U16, I think that through mid season, CU was a much better team, but as of now, FC is the better team.

Quite frankly, I don't see why CU is going to Surf, if ECNL provided them all this exposure that the ECNL crowd claims. Why spend a bunch more money for the same coaches, who have been watching you at three or four other showcase tournaments, watch you again? Either they like you or not. My dd was seen at two showcases and at ODP (maybe) and got her D1 offers. Plus, I see more beatdowns for CU given how they have played recently, why pay more money for that?

Why go to Surf? Umm because it's Surf. When was the last time FC beat Onyx?

Our team is exactly what we think it is, a group of hardworking 16 year old girls who love a game and dream of taking it as far as they can….ECNL at this level sure beats kicking every Oregon team's a**. Our girls are playing hard, getting the opportunity to be seen by tons of D1 college coaches - it's up to them now to make their dreams come true. To be critical of these ambitious, talented and committed young women is classless. Shouldn't we be celebrating their accomplishments and commitment to a great game? Shame on all you "adults". As the head into their junior year of high school, I wish them all success in life and soccer!

I saw this same attitude and commitment from the Ivory Coast women's team at the World Cup the last month. They got rocked and set records for margin of goals in defeat in all 3 games of their short lived WC losing effort. But they had some really happy fans, just happy to be proud of their team even though they didn't belong. Humility and perspective are important. At this youth level if an Oregon Club team that can afford to serve as fodder for the nationally strong teams loaded future with D1 girls, let them enjoy being the sacrificial lambs, it's their money and their choice.

Having the ability to let others shine while you struggle is a great character builder.

                                GO ONYX!!
