Not a lot of domestic vehicles at these tourneys. Get over it.

What she would tell you is that the challenge of playing on one of the best teams in the country at her age against some of the best teams in the country gave her the chance to elevate both her physical and mental game that would never have been possible had she stayed and played with even the best local teams.

She would also tell you that the offers she was fielding prior to this experience reflected the standard fare the better ODP players from our region were getting but after her time with her ECNL club she received a D1 offer far in excess of 90% of offers made to the other girls in her age group. The offering coach explained that it was the completeness of her game and her on field composure that earned her this extraordinary offer and she would again tell you that she could not have become this player without her ECNL experience.

Now does that mean every local ECNL player will make similar gains and receive similarly improved offers? No. It simply means that with ECNL coming to dominate the D1 & D2 recruiting process NOT participating is an opportunity lost.

Yes it will cost about $3,000 a year more than playing for a top club team and doing ODP U15 and U16 so the question every player has to answer is does the fire in the belly burn hot enough.
Playing on one of the best teams in the country? Must play somewhere other than Oregon. She must be in SoCal.

Ouch indeed. ECNL sure has brought this crowd of parents back to earth. This team that they thought was one of the tops in the country proved to be anything but.

The team you are referring to won the NPL national title last year. By local standards that is very, very good.
ECNL is a new ball game. It will continue to be a challenge for Oregon. But you go ahead and be a big fish in a pond no-one cares about. The girls doing ECNL want more. Good for them....

Apparently winning NPL National Titles makes you about mid to lower in ECNL. Too bad they can't compete very well in that league.

There is ECNL, then you have a step down to NPL and one or two more steps down to OYSA. Onyx is what I thought they were good enough to qualify for Championship playoffs in ECNL. Played the #6 team in the country 3-2 and game could have gone either (definitely did more than compete). West Coast is at another level and we don't have the players to compete with them and this was no surprise). Will look forward to playing Charlotte any day anytime.

ECNL is definitely a grind as the competition is what we wanted and you need to be a little lucky with injuries

They probably say the same thing given that they won.

I love it how people know the flow of a game from an anonymous blog

I didn't know that they scored based upon flow of the game.

However, it's no secret the CU played much better earlier in the season and that's what got them into the champions bracket in ECNL, which of course led to 3 losses. And CU has a history of going there, which also factors in. Again, and I don't know why this is so difficult for you, CU is dis-improving as the year goes along. FC is IMPROVING as the year goes along. And right now, FC is a better team. It's not even debateable that at U14, U15, U17 and U18 FC was head and shoulders above CU this year. And at U16, I think that through mid season, CU was a much better team, but as of now, FC is the better team.

Quite frankly, I don't see why CU is going to Surf, if ECNL provided them all this exposure that the ECNL crowd claims. Why spend a bunch more money for the same coaches, who have been watching you at three or four other showcase tournaments, watch you again? Either they like you or not. My dd was seen at two showcases and at ODP (maybe) and got her D1 offers. Plus, I see more beatdowns for CU given how they have played recently, why pay more money for that?
Great response for a team that tried, but did not get accepted into Surf? Why did your club even apply if you thought it was a waste of money?

I don't know, you will have to ask them. That's my view that it's a waste of money. But as far as the teams go, FC sure looks like the better team right now. CU better hope this slide doesn't continue into next year.

Are you talking about the same FC team that lost more than 35% of their games by 2 or more goal? Is this the same FC team that after 20 regular season games squeezed out a GD of +3? Same FC team that got drubbed in North American Cup by 4 goals? Is this the same FC team that has yet to beat Onyx? I am wondering because maybe we are thinking of different teams
