When the kids travel without parents they have a hard time getting motivated and usually don't know what to do without parents directing all their actions.

You wouldn't understand because you probably have never been in to a meaningful game.
Spot on. Ignore the heathens who probably have daughters in rec soccer.

And who is the guy that says "come on Shultzy!! Yes Shultzy, yes!!" frantically 2,000 times?

Pretty sure the kids are playing soccer for themselves and not to perform like a trained seal for their parents. It would sure be nice if parents just kept it quiet. I'm sure the kids would really appreciate it.

      It's not about parents.
Yes it is. We invest the money and help mold them and direct them in game situations. You really ought to mind your own business mister.

My dd got mad at our parents one game because the parents of the other team got frantic and were yelling and we were all silent and composed. It fired the other team up. She was really mad at us after the game. Said "from now on, how about cheering for us a little bit."

But parents of kids who play rec probably don't understand this. Actually, they are about as clueless about the game as the coach is, so it all goes hand in hand.

Well said and totally agree that it was an awesome game. Two really good teams with a complete momentum switch at the end. My dd has played against and with some of those players in camps, ODP and in leagues and when she plays people like that, the intensity goes up.

You can tell how good the parents are by how loud they cheer and coach during the game. Fact.

I'm sorry you don't understand how it's done.

There are a lot of ignorant comments on this board. Not sure if this is top 10 but the clear winner for the week. Most parents do not know soccer to the level their soccer player does. If you have to motivate your soccer player at this level you are way too involved in THEIR sport and are intruding on her individuality. Unbelievable the comments you read that feebly attempt to justify bad behavior.

I'm thinking the post you referred to was done in sarcasm.

It also allows parents to feel like they are competing too and are part of the wins.

That completely wrong. My kids appreciate me being there and they work hard to make me proud.

When you have two of the top players at that age group playing it's not surprising, even though both have been committed for a long time.

Seriously you have lost all connection to reality of you think that parents and family should not get "into' a meaningful game. I guess you think the Timbers Army should STFU too!

For the amount of time and money we put into this we parents are an extension of the team. If you watch that video there were three super loud parents. Two of them were just obnoxious and didn't know what they were talking about. But the other guy you could tell the girls really needed his input.

The mom who was hyper ventilating while giving instructions was way out there. Embarrassing.

BIG DIFFERENCE between cheering and coaching from the stands. Encourage the team (not just your own kid, but all of them). But don't tell your kid to "stay wide", "hustle", "work hard", "take the shot", etc etc etc.

kids appreciate seeing their parents support them, but that does not include directing instructing or coaching from the sidelines. That just makes you look like an ass.
