I think he was lying to the ref when he said he was on the roster. He was standing on the sideline watching the game, unless because he is the varsity coach it makes him automatically part of the JV roster. I clearly heard the ref ask him if he was part of the roster and he said yes, and then he turned to the JV coach and asked her and she said yes. I have a feeling he wasn't, so what kind of penalty would that bring? lying to the ref and then refusing to leave after the ref tosses you from the game.

This coach does need to learn some self-control, like many coaches and parents.

Well, he is a lousy role model for those kids. It's one thing to disagree with a call, it's another to berate an official. He needs some perspective: it was an offsides call and it was during a JV game. Personally, I see no reason to yell as loud as people say he was yelling for any call in a JV game. The only reason I can see to get upset with a ref in a JV game would be if the game is getting dangerous and the ref isn't controlling it.

I guess are game was over also, so It could have been refs from our game. So I'm not sure how many refs were there for the Beaverton game. I was just assuming it was JV but it could have been JV2, which would even be worse if the coach was at a JV2 game yelling like that. I saw the ref that kicked him out when the ref was leaving and he was just shaking his head at the situation and was obviously upset at the Varsity coach for the way he was acting.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostIt is important to the team, the point is there will always be bad/controversial calls. Coaches and parents are examples and role models. Many parents and coaches need to learn control. I hear many parents yelling at the ref all the time. I guess your perspective changes when your kid refs, but also when you are embarrassed by your coach or fellow parents. There are ways to evaluate and complain about the ref after the game. During the game, the coach and parents need to show calm, control and respect. There may be a time to get a red card, but doesn't sound like this was the time.
