Then be thankful that you have the means to do so.

Those that are paying full ride should look around. There is a good chance that any player who joined from another team is not paying nearly as much as you. If you are comfortable with that, then fine. If not, then I'd ask to speak with the coach and the director.

The club won't tell you who is paying what. Confidentiality...and they know it will p-off the ones paying full price. Sorry but this is the reality of pay to play soccer. If they want the kid & the parents can't pay (or if they need to cover the costs to lure the player over...), the club will find a way. Everyone else will foot part of the bill.

              Yeah, right.

Just ask the manager or treasurer, they will know who is paying. When the bills come due for the travel, the manager and treasurer will start asking for payment. When the parents say "ask the club" and the club says "oh, um, it's taken care of" then they will know. And if you are good friends with them, they will tell you.

This might be how your club operates. This isn't how THUSC or Crossfire Oregon operate.

Pure conjecture.... your intent is to stir up trouble. How about you do something productive.... like your job.

Actually I'm beating budget by over 10% so I'm doing just fine thank you. And that's exactly how it works. When the treasurer has to collect fees for the upcoming tournament and scholly player doesn't pony up, then the questions get asked. Club has to cover for deadbeat. On the backs of the full payers. Which includes, of course, you. And then scholly players plays more than your kid. Double salt in the wound.

You could get your club sued

The fact that you have such a selfish attitude is disturbing enough. The fact that you would gossip or share confidential information about other player families is disgusting. If I was in your club I would be asking the Board to remove you and any of those gossiping about these things from a position where you would have this information.

You also might want to think how what these conversations on the sidelines and your attitude about players who need help to play affect the reputation of your club because they are wholly unprofessional and would drive me way and I don't need any financial help.

Lastly, you are violating peoples privacy rights and you might end up getting your club sued!

In a professionally run club to qualify for financial assistance you have to meet guidelines based upon need. To verify that need you typically have to provide tax returns and current pay stubs. Even if there is not a written privacy policy for the club there is an implied privacy to the information contained therein and the officials of the club are limited to using that information for the purposes intended. Officials who share that information with persons outside the leadership/decision making process have violated that persons privacy.

So persons who share that information, in addition to being despicable gossips, run the risk of the club and themselves being sued for defamation, slander and disclosure of confidential information.

If your club does not have a written privacy policy...GET ONE and then make sure the people who have access to the information follow it. It's not only the "right thing to do" it will keep your club out of court and those Insurance premiums down!

Equally important WHO would want to be a member of an organization that was willing to share this type of information about members and encourage/allow it to be a topic of discussion on the sidelines?

No you don't. Talk about lying, hyperbole and conjecture, all rolled into one. A club can give money to whomever they want. Regardless of need. The club, and specifically the DOC and board, can make whatever rules they want as to who pays and how much.

And if you think that people don't talk, you are crazy. If a person is on scholarship and they are a decent person and nice to everyone and considerate, it is doubtful anyone will know. If a person is a jerk, doesn't pay other fees, and acts inconsiderate to everyone, then people will find out. All a manager/treasurer has to do is send out a reminder note on payments of tournament fees and list the people who haven't paid. "Funds have not been recieved from the following families:".

And get sued? Really, for what? I can see a deadbeat family suing people who say that they are deadbeats.

Not to mention that those discovery players the fly in for games and showcases pay almost nothing at all, but every ECNL team is glad to have them...

I think that the term the moron parent used to describe them was "gun slingers".
