The TA attacking ECNL is completely illogical. If it was out to attack, then tryouts would have been before ECNL tryouts and given the huge numbers at tryouts for the TA, then they would have taken more players and formed more teams. And they would have done it at more age groups. ECNL people are more and more desperate. The numbers must be really really low for their teams. So sad.

I agree that there will be more this fall but to say that a majority of the openings that our current girls are qualified for are going to be filled is simply a false assertion.

When you look at the Oregon class of 2014 and the 30+ commits if you exclude the U of O and OSU commits you see only few going to your "top programs".

Unlike the boys programs where there is a lucrative professional career at the end of the rainbow 99% of the girls do not strive for the top programs but the programs that fit them best academically first and athletically second.
The prospects of a lucrative pro career are about the same for both boys and girls. More or less non-existent. Even though higher for boys, the difference might be statistically insignificant because it is so unlikely.

The TA has no draw for girls. They haven't for years.

The Timbers threw out the Academy rumor months ago with no details. All smoke and mirrors. That $500 quickly grew as they were forced to define their mysterious academy program. At the end of the day the Timbers are attacking youth soccer. They are profiting from it and they have become a divisive and destructive force in youth soccer.

          Not talking about soccer

I was talking about the decision points for Basketball and Football athletes where you make your decisions about getting into the best program with the best history of moving players at your positions into the pros.

Agree 1,000 % about your take on US Futbol!

It's not much different even if you factor in basketball or football. In the past 5 years, how many Portland area athletes in any sports moved on to be professionals? I suspect it's 15 or fewer. Compared to the number of participants at the high school ages it's an incredibly small number.

One cool soccer fact though: on Tuesday Rubio Rubin signed a 4 year contract with FC Utrecht in Holland.

Yes, great kid and big congratulations to him. Nice family too. I hope he has a nice long career.

What's it been, nearly three weeks since offers went out? Are some players still on the fence about accepting their offer? It must stink to have rosters still in flux.

Top teams always have rosters in flux. More girls will choose ECNL throughout the summer and fall...

They have left room to add girls as well. We got a new girl from the 'couv last week at U14.

How many do you need to play 14 games over 6 months? Last I checked only 11 at a time. Too bad your DD only gets to ride the pine at your TA club...

Don't worry. You will get to 18. Although those 3 that join won't be paying much. They will be riding on the fact that you are paying full ride. Thank goodness you have deep pockets.

Why do you care so much about what happens on a girl's soccer team?
