How come they didn't take the entire Copa TS roster? The other 7 just took one for the "team" I guess.

Didn't realize it was a race. Teams don't play until winter...

Some Perspective…You throw out $8,500 like it is affordable…I bought my first car for less than that. My grandparents bought a house for less than that (the same one my mom grew up in). You are right $8,500 and $10,000 are different. $8,500 IS STILL A LOT TO PAY FOR A PRODUCT WITH UNPROVEN RESULTS (LOCALLY)

Team was at 14. I guess the tryouts were more fair and objective than many of the ECNL tryouts. The ECNL parents I've spoken to know a number of the spots were politically motivated. Should make for some really strong teams. Dumb move by some of the coaches.

Um... travel costs a lot. The product will happen no matter what. If your daughter is good enough to make the team she will travel and play these games. She will train when she is not traveling. The product is known. What's so hard to understand? Do you think the cost of travel is not worth it if the team doesn't win the championship? or if they have a sub 500 season? Why? The games were played. Your daughter gained valuable experience and had the best exposure to college recruiters available. There is nothing to prove.

Then why were the ECNL crowd asking about rosters a week ago yet the ECNL teams haven't posted. Are they that bad? Numbers really low? Why hide? It must not be good.

I would love to know which team made a political appointment over a quality appointment. Can you give us the club and age?

First that says they have a large roster and second that tells me the roster spot/player was not perceived as a starter.

My property taxes are higher than that. What's your point. Do you not understand time value of money?

Well that means you can afford it. Many people can't. And furthermore just because someone can afford it, they may feel its a prudent decision to not risk that money on an unproven product. And personally, some of the coaches are unimpressive. That's a lot of money for who some people perceive as very mediocre coaches. But that's just personal opinion but it is a reason some people didn't choose it.

So what do you get for $3,600

No one has ever said that ECNL was not expensive. The question comes down to value. The timbers are offering a $,1250 discount on a schedule that any team can do so yes there is some value to choosing the Academy. The problem is that it is limited to one age.

Other value question that has yet to be addressed are the limited number of quality games and the volume of players needing the exposure in those limited number of games. If the Thorns really wanted to offer a quality 'alternative' to the ECNL they would have added more showcases so that more players would get exposure. Of course that means more money.

So 3 had already left the team before tryouts?

Three left during the season for various reasons. They are great girls. And they are good players but this is what happens at the older age groups. Priorities change.

These rankings are a bit ridiculous. I'm not going to name certain teams, but it is laughable that they are up in the top 15. Which tells me that this ranking system should be thrown out the window.

I don't think there's any argument that Gotsoccer's ranking system leaves a lot to be desired.

The one thing I like about it is that you can look at teams histories and see who has played whom and what the results were. I don't care in the least about the rankings, more of the history of the team.
