Why did the onyx girls miss the other three then?

All Onyx girls were at every tryout except 1 player. The player that missed the 1st was on vacation and BTW she is in the US National Pool I think she is worhty of the spot. All Onyx players missed the final tryout do to Nationals.

Seriously not sure why the guy your responding to is so worried about what he perceives to be $10k "lie". Knowing what the schedules are I would say one would be lucky if the cost was less than $10k. My guess is that 10k is on the low end even without parent travel. As you say, a trip to Florida is $700 just to get there and hotels won't be cheap.

Go to the CU website and open the power pint presentation and drop down to the projected costs by age and you will see they have $1,300 budgeted for FL in the $5,225 travel budget.

Next year the first round of the playoffs will not be $300 away in Seattle so a realistic supporter needs to add $800 for a revised projected travel total of $6,025 and an all in total of $8,025. Now factor inflation for each of the 6 air plane trips and $8,500 should be more than enough. To get to your mythical figure for player costs you have to have unexpected costs of over $250 for every trip.

No matter how many times you pretend to be someone else and try to support the 10K lie and try to scare parents away form the ECNL the TRUTH comes out. The numbers were provided to CU from WA Crossfire and have been confirmed by local parents.

Your concern about parental budgets is touching but any parent who accepts an ECNL bid knows it is going to be about $5,000 more expensive than the Academy and if they are a U16 parent they know that their DD will get 4 times the playing time and exposure!

Just look at your ECNL schedule and price airline tickets, hotel, and food and you will learn the ECNL price tag may exceed $10k. Ticket to Orlando is over $700 and that is just one event.

The only significant number of "top" girls staying away are the ones doing the Academy.

The balance of "top" players at the other age groups whose parents can afford $8,000 are not staying away.

Go look at flights now, wish I were buying a 1st class ticket, but prices for airfare to FL ECNL event are anywhere from $750 - $1,000

If this person bothered to look at the numbers CU posted for the 16's & 17's for that trip they would see they have $1,300 plugged in.

They might be light $100 on a couple of other trips but that is still under $8,500 and no where near 10K.

FWIW I just finished booking last minute trip to Surf and the RDTRP Plane ticket, rental car and hotel for three nights is going to cost me $950. Spent a similar amount for ECNL showcase in TX and the National playoff in Aurora Co. So tack on 3K including food that you wouldn't buy at home for one adult.

The first year of ECNL will be interesting to say the least. If the coaches didn't take the very best players they will fail hard. CU cannot exist on Onyx alone.

Um, $8500 is close to $10,000. At least to me.
