So the HS age kids who are not playing HS soccer can play during the fall. Duh.

Are there girls that don't play HS in Fall? Didn't realize that...

I don't know. Don't forget they are offering a league for boys too.

They clearly state that they are "offering a fall league for the players who don't play HS soccer." Apparently they feel there is a demand for it.

You're right, I did not include boys, whoopsies! Anyone have an idea what the demand would be? There must be a demand to start the league in Fall, but seems to me there wouldn't be one...

Many OPL teams now travel to Seattle or NorCal for better tournament play anyway.

OYSA could remain a local TA league with business as usual.
This idea actually makes some sense for the top NPL Premier Division teams in the OPL.

And it would be a cheaper alternative to ECNL. Travel would involve driving only and families
could could attend games without paying airfare or they could carpool to save expenses.
Assuming NorCal and Seattle based teams would also travel to Portland, half the games would be at home.

Opportunities for college showcases wouldn't be on a national level but many players are looking at northwest or west coast universities versus colleges in Florida, North Carolina or Texas.

In some states, playing HS is the lower level then club in the fall.

As a parent, I don't want to see it united. I don't want to spend a weekend (and the expenses) of playing some super rec. team in a diagonally opposite end of the state.

Have you even looked into ECNL? Their division is basically what you stated plus ID and UT. The other larger venues they go to are the ones you want to go to. That's the top competition and where the coaches hang out.

Local coaches also go to local events during ecnl league play. Meaning the pacific nw and west coast schools attend league matches frequently.

What very few local parents or even coaches understand is that the ECNL has developed a reputation that not only draws coaches to league and showcase events but OUT OF AREA coaches to team practices.

ANY PICTURE OF A DIVISION ONE OUT OF STATE WOMEN'S HEAD SOCCER COACH EVALUATING/RECRUITING A PRACTICE HELD BY ANY OREGON CLUB TEAM.

They must make this trip based on their desire to use the Oregon club practice as their #1 reason to be in Oregon.

Hasn't happened since the dawn of time.

Won't happen before the end of times.

                            Love this forum of idiots.

47 schools, often ODP Championships, Far West Regionals, Surf Cup (both) will draw not just over a 100, but sometimes several hundred. ECNL parents can be total idiots.
