If the $10K number is accurate then the best players would do better to travel north, pay $650 for the league fees and pay their own travel. It is no where near $10K unless they choose to take the entire family to every game.

She attended practice the day before if it did not conflict with school. We did NOT pay anywhere near $10K or even $8K. Generally speaking each event would cost around $650 with airfare. There were 3 events. The out of state league games ran around $350-450 including airfare. Honestly, you don't get to hang out with the players that much so I attended very few out of area (not including Seattle) games. For us it was cheaper than local club and ODP.

You didn't give a starting point and the thread name is ECNL $10,000 so I was operating from a $10K less the 1350 or $8,650. Perhaps I should have inquired what number you are starting with. All in all it is less than $5K

I am not mad about anything as my ECNL player was very happy playing out of Seattle with the caveat that ECNL was not available in PDX at the time. I am actually an ECNL supporter and I don't know if it is reading comprehension issue or the anger issue that seems to plague so many of the Talking Soccer bloggers that prevents people from understanding concepts.

Buuuuuutt unless your DD practices full time or is a National Team quality talent she is not going to get/earn the same playing time as a full price member.
In "theory" it's a way to get exposure at the Showcases on the cheap but it will not be the same exposure as she would get if she was a full price member. In other words there is no free lunch.
And BTW if she is a National Team caliber player she doesn't need the exposure as much as she needs the competition in practice and league which is why those that can afford it play through U17 even though they have their offers.

It all depends on the player. I don't think Seattle ECNL clubs are offering discovery positions to average or even average good players. When I threw the discovery option out there it was in response to local cost being $10k which is absurd. I threw it out there with the caveat that the player would need to be at the top of the group or it would not make sense.
Not practicing full time with the Seattle ECNL teams did not mean not playing. You are correct some players do not play at a certain level for exposure rather they do it because it is fun and they enjoy it. All of the discovery players we know U16 and above were already committed. It wasn't about that.
