All three of the clubs participating in ECNL are OPL. All but one of the CU coaches are OPL but I admit I DK the count for FCP.

The only current TA coaches that hold a candle to the better OPL/ECNL coaches are Mac in Eugene and the 97 Copa coach, after that there is no TA coach with a winning track record at these ages.

Tell us beside Kwibbe who the ECNL coaches are that are not OPL coaches?

Kibbwe is associated with SS, which is OPL. Assistant coach at PSU isn't really a full time job, so he has to do something else.

What you need to understand is that sometimes the best thing at the moment could or could not be the best thing in the grand scheme of things for everyone or just a few. We never really know what the repercussions of our actions are going to be in the future, because it hasn't quite happened yet. But when it does we always do know but aren't always totally happy with it. So just wait and see what the future holds good or bad, high or low. It's all the same really.

Yes not all of the ECNL coaches are the "best" that the clubs have to offer but as a group they are the class of the state.
Everything for the ECNL people comes down to comparing against the TA. Apparently you are unaware that you won't be playing the TA but will be playing ECNL teams. These teams, at least some of them, have fantastic coaches. Top coaches. The question was, what have ECNL Oregon coaches done that gives anyone comfort that they are getting the full ECNL benefit given the time and money committment? It's like they threw the ECNL moniker out there like a shiny object and a handful of people went right after it without really taking a hard look. But they have the means to pay for it, which seems to be their only criteria. It's expensive, so it must be good, right?

For those of you who didn't study latin, you just described ex-ante and ex-post.

None of the ECNL coaches are OPL. With the schedules of four days a week training and extensive travel none of the ECNL coaches will coach anything other than their ECNL team. You might argue that the clubs are the same, but no one at THUSC will ever see Tom coaching anything other than the ECNL teams. CU is not THUSC or CO, neither of those two clubs can claim the CU coaches.

As an ECNL parent I would cringe if my coach was being shared with lower OPL teams.

So back to the original coaching question. Remove the ECNL coaches from your OPL list, who is left? Do you still think OPL has the best coaching?

Actually they left a lot of their better coaches in OPL. They put the bad ones in ECNL.

Wait, I thought playing ECNL was about paying to have the best?

Should we be getting good coaches if we are investing $10000-$12000?? That ver aggravating!

They probably don't really care. It is a business, and if you are dropping 10,000 you are already hooked on the strong stuff, they need to focus on the new addicts...the ones who haven't been taught about elite and all those other OPL catch phrases.

Do you really think anyone is going to believe your attempts to discredit ECNL?

ECNL is the same coaches but lesser talent because a lot of the talented kids can't afford the five figure cost. They'll do ok eventually. Be patient for the first couple.

                            First couple of what? Decades?

Yes. I think people who do not wish to or are not talented enough to play ECNL will choose to believe anything that they feel validates their position. Honestly, why should it matter to anyone if someone chooses ECNL and someone else doesn't? So what, who cares?

If the $10K number is accurate then the best players would do better to travel north, pay $650 for the league fees and pay their own travel. It is no where near $10K unless they choose to take the entire family to every game.

We won't do until next year. Do we know what the costs really will be? Including parent travel.
