Why would a team not cover travel costs, hotel and per diem for the 2 coaches? Those coaches work with the team every week to improve them and have prepared them to play in travel tournaments like Surf and Vegas. To then say only one coach can make the trip isn't fair on the coach and the team.

What would happen if only one coach went to an event and then got sick or red carded for example. Then there would be nobody to coach the team. Can you imagine at a high level event like Surf having to have the manager coach the team??? That would be a disaster.

      That's PER TRIP!

Assuming you have six trips your looking at over $14,500 just for other peoples travel. That's out of control.
$10,000 estimate might be low. Looking like it will blow right past that number. Sure hope the ECNL parents have been listening so they know to increase their budget.

Only 1 coach travels with our ECNL team. We have never had a coach fall ill or red carded but I would assume a coach from another aged team would fill in. Typically more than 1 ECNL team travels to away games.

Fortunately you're not doing ECNL. Glad to see you're putting so much effort into this research for others!

Travel is expensive. Living in Oregon, you have to get out of here to play better teams.

That's for sure. You won't find any good competition in OYSA...

Then explain why your kid is average at best? Oh it's the leagues fault.

Maybe your should spend 12k to sit the bench or not even travel. If your team is bad your kid won't touch the ball all game. Sounds like the perfect fit!

Why do people like you post stuff like this? Has your child participated in ECNL during the past couple of years? Does it make you feel superior to chastise and rib people on how much it will cost for their child to participate. My recommendation for all is wait and see how much it costs. It may actually be way less than what one might think. Especially given that many of the teams that will now be participating in ECNL are accustomed to traveling frequently

Then your kid is going to really look bad since they could barely hold their own while playing Oregon teams. Why are you going to put your dd through this humilation this year? She has you for a father, hasn't she suffered enough?

You can see the point though. If there was no other coach available whether it be ECNL, Thorns or a club team on a travel trip that would pose a problem if there was one coach per team. I know at Surf in the past there has been only one team from a club at the event. So there would be no cover if something happened to the coach if there was only one. Plenty of coaches get red cards especially out of state.

A risk not worth taking I would say.

Don't worry I here they are starting an E.B.T league for people like you. You can swipe your Oregon Trail card for the monthly fees.

After standing on the sidelines for a complete year of ECNL I can say the only time I saw more than one coach for a road team was at the National Playoffs. I DK if that was budgeted in the club fee or not.

What I can say is that the 14'-18's travel together and do not play at the same time because they are generally playing at the same locations. So if your "what if" came to pass a coach form one of the other ages would stand in. No different that what happens for the local traveling teams that only take one coach to the showcases.

Nice try now get back under your bridge TROLL!

I don't think they were talking specifically about ECNL. They mentioned Thorns and standard club teams. ECNL will give more coaching flexibility due to how they travel en masse. However I can see the perspective of not wanting to take one coach to an event IF there were no other teams there and therefore no other coaches. This has been the case with our team going to Surf in the past but then we always took 2 coaches.

Don't take his defensiveness personally. He's a paranoid idiot. He is a trust fund baby who never worked a day in his life.
