ECNL is poorly run in Oregon. Not only that, the teams are going to be marginal at best. It isn't going to be pretty.

Poor coaching
Really poor developental structure with putting more emphasis on trying to keep costs low vs what is best for player
Too large rosters so players don't even get to play
Too large rosters so players only get 50% of what they are paying for
Bad teams much like the ones already in ecnl who can't score any goals all season. Playing defense and touching the ball 5 times a game means little even if you are playing the wnt.
No point for exposure if the player isn't good enough or getting to play enough.
No point in overblown exposure when you can see the same coaches at big tournaments and they get kids who are better at those.
Just because SoCal blues has good players doesn't mean oregon ecnl has good players. Just because soca gets kids into college like they've always don't doesn't excuse the majority of ecnl kids not getting offers and more so from this state from the looks of it.
All of this at the cost of your kids college tuition. Sounds like a hell of a deal to me!
But by all means, take your advice from the parent who has no clue how this process works And only tries to correlate from points that have no relation to what it will be in this state.
The reason why they are trying so hard because they need your money and your kid to even having a prayer of this not being a disaster.
Do I know how good any one team is going to do over the course of the season? No. Do I know how the few teams that actually have more than 20 players are going to apportion playing time? No.
Do we know that the CU 14's are struggling? Yes. Do we know if they are going to get better as the season progresses? Yes. will that be enough to be competitive? No one knows for sure just like know one knows what the exact ticket prices are going to be for those 4 Airline trips they are going to take for ECNL.
If you took the time you waste here telling everybody your "opinion" you could actually accomplish something positive in your life..... but I digress!

These threads are getting tiresome. You are obviously not having your dd playing ECNL, so why continue to post? Do you have an axe to grind? Are you hoping a couple of your dd's star teammates don't leave because they might read your posts on TS? All in a hope they can make one more run at one of the split state cups?
What team is your dd on? Let's spend the next few months analyzing any negatives of her playing with her current team, whether or not those negatives are real or imaginary.
How insecure are you?! If what your dd's is currently doing, is the best option for her great. For my dd the best option was clearly ECNL. We took into consideration the training fees, traveling costs, quality/quantity of training, the quality/quantity of matches. It was definitely the best option for her. We are not worried about college scholarships, if they come along, great. If not, no worries. Going back and playing in the OPL/OYSA split league just wasn't going to be challenging for her. For 'her'. Not me, not you or your dd.
It's the new reality, and it's going to be fine. With or without you and your dd.

As adults we have all endured through periods like that and we know how to handle it, but the kids we are talking about (U15-18) have at most 4 years, so to blithely say "oh well, the first 2 or 3 years may be tough" is awfully callous.
See…it is possible to post, support a conversation, and not insult people. Maybe try it next time...
