ECNL tryouts at CU are scheduled for 6/24, 6/26/, 7/8 & 7/10.... starting in 19 days.
If the Timbers are serious about their Thorns Academy, now's the time to get the word out.

I don't disagree. They need to get their act together and get the information out. Same with FC. If FC holds their tryouts later than CU, they are stupid. Girls might not wait. Same with the Academy.

It would appear per their web site that girls can arrange tryouts as well. So if girls are interested they could contact them and figure something out.

If you think that the 'attitude" expressed here is limited to the posters your are naïve. Not only are these the thoughts of MANY and are shared within the PDX soccer community but the posts here DO get back to the intended targets.

I think the Thorns Academy supporters need a reality check on what the future holds.

If the Academy is going to provide league play and the teams qualify for the USYS Regionals and they go to at least two out of state showcases the PLAYER cost are going to be $7,000+.

I won't stoop to the level of the ECNL haters and roll in parent travel cost or try to exaggerate the Player costs but based up on the experience of the U16 WT/TS girls last year $7K is a reasonable number for the cost of participating on the Thorns Academy teams that would provide a comparable experience to ECNL.

The Timbers/Thorns are NOT going to be underwriting the $100,000 per team costs to participate in the FWRL and the USYS Regionals and the independent showcases. If they were they were going to provide this level of support they would have announce the program and disclosed the cost profile long ago and kept the ECNL clubs from attracting the best players.

OK, they may not read TS, but if an organization is not responsive to the clients it serves or their opinions, it will fail miserably.
The Timbers should not be so arrogant that they ignore public opinion. After months of waiting, this "teaser" of a Thorns Academy needs to be consummated or dropped.

How then can you judge their actions (or inaction's) from the posts on this forum ?? You clearly state they may not read TS, but yet you expect them to respond to you and your opinion (that you so obviously share with the world in print).

Have you called them personally ? Why not ? If not, how do they know that you are waiting to learn more about this program. Do you need the number ? Its actually easier then typing your rants here.

Why not try and send them an email. Start with Erik and see what comes of it. Do you need Erik's email address ? If you don't get a response, go to his boss (I think that's Mike Smith), so on and so forth til you get to MP.

If your questions fall on deaf ears, then post your communications (so we know your aren't full of BS) and let the bashing begin.

If you truly do want answers go get em. Its then up to you if you want to share it with the rest. But stop crying in your imaginary beer here on TS. The glass is full and frankly it's getting boring to listen to. If it does happen, you will have poisoned yourself so bad that no matter what it turns out to be you wont want it.
