Can anyone tell me just one thing that the OPC/OPL has done since their inception that has changed soccer for the better in Oregon ? Not the clubs that belong or play in the OPL, but the Oregon Premier Council.

The Timbers have a pretty good racket going. They get kickbacks from their TA clubs via uniform sales. They take a couple dollars from registration fees to subsidize their academy, and they control youth soccer. You have to admit they pulled off a good one.

The truth is that the Timbers are about money and control.

Obviously folks within those clubs have drunk the cool aid to believe they are the only well intentioned organization around...they should know however very few other people believe that.

Id rather be part of an organization that aligns clubs rather than an incompetent and money hording organization who has really really unintelligent people who seem to feel the need to say anything even if it makes then sound stupid.

Got an idea. Let's scrap oysa and all go back to opl. Back to terrible development structure and money hording. This is all on the idea that they had all the teams and still did a terrible job. But let's do that anyway.

I believe by applying for ECNL the thorns endorsed it as a strong program, it seems where the divide is is that you want them to say "(THUSC,FC,...) are the clubs that should have ECNL". You will hold your breath a long time waiting for that to happen. In the outside world each of the OPL clubs trying to get ECNL is seen as doing it for two reasons, money and control. Before you bark about club greatness etc... Reflect, every conversation starts oh ECNL will be great because it will concentrate all the talent in one club (control/money). It will allow players the only way to reach this level of competition (money/control)

It turns out the Timbers are on a crusade to push people away from the ECNL so they can can control soccer. This has always been their agenda. It was never about improving soccer. It is about control and money.
So the Timbers create this Thorns academy that will play where? In a few tournaments? They have no league to play in beyond an OYSA league. How will this benefit girls?
People have repeatedly said on this site that talent is too diluted to compete outside Oregon. Now we have programs coming to Oregon that enable us to consolidate top talent and compete and the Timbers and their TA drones are out en mass attacking the ECNL and creating this Thorns academy.
It is shameful what the Timbers are doing. They are not unifying soccer. They are manipulating soccer for their own profit. This is exactly why US Soccer across the country continues to grow while USYS continues to shrink. It is this small minded approach that holds soccer back in the US.

ODP costs $1,400 a year under OYSA. It cost the when OPL was the primary competitive league.
Yea? Tell me how OYSA is improving development? You want to complain about OPL not reinvesting their money (and they were wrong for not doing so) yet accept the Timbers skimming from youth soccer via uniform fees in their TA clubs and OYSA player cards. Seems rather hypocritical to me... or you simply don't know what you're talking about.
