This makes total sense. But don't pretend like what is happening is for the betterment of youth soccer in Oregon. We have taken a huge step backward because these clubs are jerking people around. They are trying to reduce who controls what.

Working for the Timbers, Gavin's bully tactics, and refusal to work with non TA clubs is the root of the problem.

If these people had a real interested in girls soccer, they would support the ECNL regardless of club. Just like non TA clubs support the DA and send their players. Do what is right for the players and not for the DOC's pocket books.

This is really exposing the TA for what they are and why Nike clubs stayed in the OPL. Clubs are not treated equal in the OYSA. The TA has an agenda. They do not support girls soccer unless they control it. The Timbers are siphoning off money to fund their professional development program on the backs of rec and competitive leagues.

If this isn't true, I expect the TA to support the ECNL in Portland. We will see...

The OPL will support the Timbers Alliance/Thorns ECNL?

That's good to hear. It's good for girls soccer in Oregon.

They would if they got it, but everyone knows that they didn't. Nice try though. ;)

              Nobody got it.

If the OPL and OYSA were cats and the ECNL invite were a can of tuna, then I wonder if they would still be happy for each other getting it? Maybe if it were a string instead of a can of tuna? Then again cats can't open cans so the tuna would be worthless if they couldn't open it.

This is only true because the dolphins are probably looking for their uncle dolphin who may very well be in that can.

Though it was the most grammatically correct email I've ever seen from the club. To take such a hard line against the ECNL speaks to fear of losing some power.
If the Thorns were getting an ECNL bid then Cony would have never sent out this scare tactic

Your looking at about 12k if you decide you need to escort your kid at ecnl too.
I am not the poster you are responding too, but I agree with the price especially with ODP. If your idea of going out of state is Washington or Northern California, this will seem high, but going to the east coast and Southern California multiple times a year, each trip is easily a $1000 a player plus club fees (airfare, hotel, part of the rental car, food, coach expenses, uniform etc. my daughter does not do ODP anymore and last year cost between $5-6 K and I did not travel with her unless it was drivable.

Wrong. Thorns got it. Hang tight.

This is such nonsense, there hasn't even been a decision about if someone fetes ECNL, and people are griping about OYSA not supporting it. How can you measure support, when there is nothing to be supported?

Also I would expect that any good club would spend their time focusing on the teams they have in their wheelhouse. If there is no chance of Westside getting ECNL why would they spend time worrying about it.

The only way I can understand this is to believe that the the ECNL wanna bees are trying to distract because they are worried they won't get the decision they wanted.
