For any parent of top notch player all you should care about in all this is that someone, anyone gets ECNL. Once that happens all the best players and coaches will consolidate and forget all about their stupid club allegiances and so will you.
I agree with you to a point, but only up to the point of who the coaches will be. There are clubs in the area (I won't give my opinion here) that have coaches that they believe are "God's gift" that my DK would not play for, period. If she was good enough and these coaches were ECNL coaches for her age, she would skip it and find other opportunities.

"Send it" is still "send it" even at ECNL and I doubt those coaches would change tactics. Or integrity, honesty, sincerity, commitment, etc.

This is where club selection is truly important.

Still waiting on the announcement of whether any team will receive it. The hour is growing late and no news.

I have no idea who you're talking about but I am sure everyone does not share yo opinion of that coach. Your personal opinion of a given coach shouldn't preclude a club from being selected. It's kind of funny anyone would even think that.

It is your choice to skip for whatever reason suits you.

Where did I say my opinion should drive what club is selected? My point is that the club should be selected based on coaching, development and progression of it's members. If you give ECNL to a club that has coaches that lack the ability to properly teach soccer, no matter who migrates that direction, the team will fail, just at a higher cost.

I did state that people thought said coaches were "God's gift" so let me translate. Both people within the club and it's families think highly of these coaches. My point is that I know them better than most and don't trust them to teach my dog to sit let alone coach my DK to play the game correctly. There are many coaches like this throughout many clubs and my point is that the coach is the reason to select or not select any team.

At any level, because it doesn't matter

THAT'S NOT A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP WHEN YOU PLAYED IN A TOURNAMENT THAT THE MAJORITY OF THE NATION DOESN'T EVEN PARTICIPATE IN!!!!!!!!

Heck, I'll just make my own national tournament, invite rec teams and when I win it I'll put a start on my own t-shirt.

Winning a watered down state league, not even in a competitive state, and going straight to "nationals" is not a very big result. You can put as many stars on your shirt as you want. Only 3 clubs in OR have been to Nationals: FC PDX, Westside, and Eastside. And only 2 of the 3 have won it.

Go home you "2 star" club and keep choking on your DOCs kool aid.

Stop chasing your DOCs talk and chase their walk. If your club is doing well, THEN GOOD FOR YOU!! Be happy, enjoy the experience. Others will eventually join you. In the meantime, if people aren't coming over to join you... why try and and argue a mute point.

THUSC is a good girls club. They're not the best. There really isn't a "best" girls club. It's all too watered down and split at the moment. We'll see in a year or two.

Quit being a hater. Your old, US Club is the new trend. Quit your crying and whining. If you don't think Onyx would have not won it through your sacred albeit out of style and old format for a "real title" your crazy. US Club is the future and you can't stand it. You cry and whine in your posts like a ten year old. I can see you jumping up and down and throwing a fit every time you post your b.s. about your "real championship" that the entire country participates in (which is total b.s.) and another point to your ridiculous ranting - the league was not split at the time of those national titles. So what happened to your almighty team, hmmm? Couldn't even qualify for that "watered down rec title" so what does that make your team??

ECNL please .... take your conversation elsewhere. Get it?

Plenty of people coming over to THUSC. Many people switching to US Club Soccer. US club is the wave of the future. Quit being mad because you were forced to go back to OYSA.

It appears that the ECNL "could" be the unifying effect that is needed at GU14-GU18 for the State (Incl. SW WA).
Sometimes it happens on it's own thru parent-Player-coach- team-club recruitment but not always and certainly not at all ages.
It would be unfortunate if the area didn't have an ECNL option this year. Would be nice to keep the players "local" rather then sending them up North.

What people don't understand is that Oregon is just 1 of 50 states. What happens here isn't necessarily reflective of what's occurring across the country. USYS fell behind. US Club stepped in to improve an antiquated system. Competition is good. This has pushed USYS to step up and work to improve its system. While overall negative, The OPL OYSA split is pushing some innovation locally.

USYS is shrinking nationally. US Club is growing. Notice the trend? USYS will always be bigger because they focus on rec soccer. US Club is more focused on elite soccer.

Take all the nearsighted shots you want. Step outside Oregon and pay attention to what's going on.

The thing you can't deny however is where do teams go for their championships. USYS has the largest championship field, and one which requires qualification all the way through, you don't have ways to automatically jump through.

                        ECNL has their own championship

The USDA has their own championship

The USYNL feeds their champions into the USYS National championship, but to even become a member of that league you have to have won a national championship.

FWRL feeds with wildcards into the USYS Regionals.

And then US Club has their pay to play championship. essentially you can skip any qualifying and just sign up to go to their regionals and play though to nationals.

For some parents they may like these shortcuts, but as a purist I believe a Championship is only as significant as the path required to get there. If you want to claim a state championship than you should have to play a field of all-comers, if you want to claim a regional championship it should be the same and so-on.

I also believe the more times a league says Elite in their name, the more I question if they are about marketing and sales, or about true competition.

There are a lot of championships out there. it is a long road to get to a championship, I believe strongly champions are measured by who they defeat to get there, not by a title up for sale.

One correction, the "pay to play" nationals is a second tiered bracket. There are 2 championships. One you qualify through winning and one through their regional qualifications.

No one will take you serious if you try to diminish the competitiveness and value of the ECNL.
