      Thoughts

I hope THUSC and Crossfire gets ECNL then let's see what happens to the national title hopes. Not saying by any means that THUSC and Crossfire do not have competitive and very good teams but wait until you face full blown ECNL teams from around the country coming at you full strength. We are not talking about put together teams and practice rotation playing at non ECNL tourneys and events. The ECNL national championship is the hardest by far of all the national championships. We also need to remember that this market will be split in 2 teams and girls will move to the team that gets them the most play time for the money that's spent. Let's say a girl on THUSC is non starter why hang there for minimal play time you will try your chances at the other as there is not a lot of subbing in league games or events. I also think you will find the players that are up north playing ECNL will start migrating back and filling spots. It's is really going to make for a very interesting year when it happens. Personally I would think timbers and crossfire would get bids. They have the largest groups and most money by far to draw from. FC and THUSC are really small clubs by standards. Take crossfire premier and Washington premier and there size. Plus timbers and crossfire have there own fields. Just my thoughts.

Posts like yours are instigating, basically trying to say it nice, but basically that everyone involved with the clubs are idiots and have ridiculous expectations. That is not so nice. Also Timbers did not apply so not an issue.

Maybe, maybe not. Take a look at this map of ECNL club locations and you'll see why Portland is an obvious location for a couple of teams. Would round out the Pacific Division of the NW Conference rather nicely...

Currently only 1 team in OR capable of competing on a national stage, but OR teams would be competitive in the NW division.

I think Washington Premier is the only club in Washington that owns its own turf and grass fields, not Crossfire.

And is that your dds team, Honestly get over yourself. You will have 10 teams like it or not and they all will be in the lower middle of the pack. There is no team right now capable of competing on the national stage. Please don't start onyx banter again. They are good for a local team but national stage please! Ok have at it thuscies

They do have a winning record vs ECNL teams and the events they are playing are not against the ECNL reserves. Onyx is not at a consistent level with top national teams, but they would be competitive with any team in the country. The big difference is Onyx only plays at those big events a couple times per year and the ECNL teams see that level all the tome

How many ECNL events do you think there are in a year?

I am guessing 2 maybe 3, but their league games are slightly better than OPL and OYSA

Maybe 1-2, but sprinkle in their league games, and add the big showcase and that is top talent at a greater frequency than what Onyx is playing

You don't know what you're talking about. Oregon can easily field competitive ECNL teams in the NW division. You people don't understand that region IV is the most competitive in the country. If you actually left the state and traveled East, you would see that many of our teams can compete just fine. Our perspective is skewed due to the extremely high caliber in our region.

"and besides...there are MLS Affiliated clubs doing ECNL...."

Portland Thorns have applied....I was told this from a source that works in the office
                              Thanks.
Found some info on the FC Dallas ECNL affliation, but after an internet search couldn't find anything regarding a Chicago Fire or Portland Thorns ECNL bid. The Fire's website does show
the other youth programs they sponsor.

Thorns Academy applied last summer and were turned down. So don't hold your breath waiting for the Academy to actually happen.
