Uh, oh....looks like ECNL will not happen this year.....a major sponsorship fell through.....uh oh

Being offered an ECNL bid is not dependent upon any sponsor. If a club is offered a spot it merely needs to pay the $500 deposit and agree to the rules and regulations of ECNL. There are NO rules stating a club needs a major sponsor. A major sponsor just helps cut the cost of the club

nope....ECNL are partnering with the new womens pro league....each womens pro league team will have ECNL teams....this is good stuff...there is supposed to be something official on the ECNL and NWSL websites soon.

This is a great move by ECNL....this will give them 8-10 quality teams at each age group

this would be good news for our market here in PDX as no club has the capacity to do this....having quality coaching is important and I'm confident that the Womens Pro League can offer that through the Thorns.

ECNL is an interesting organization. I just looked at their tax returns (posted for public review) and they are producing net income of $200,000-$300,000 per year and have $700,000 cash in the bank. Free and clear. No debt. Not a bad days work for a "non-profit".

I am all for making a profit, but non-profits are publicly funded (no tax burden), so it is odd to see such a profitable "non-profit" that is sitting on so much cash.

That's a few bucks in the bank.

Thorns isn't a club. Assuming it is what is their player development history? What are the notable players from the Thorns Academy and what is the highest level they have played? What are the notable accomplishments of the Thorns Academy. They don't even meet the basic requirements. Please let me know the track record of the Thorns Academy at U13-U18?
