Bad idea...especially with several open teammates. The ball was lost, Samba countered and a goal was scored within 60 secs. Copa is VERY weak against the long ball...that's their biggest weakness.
LOL. The same player you just described as "one of the best players" is the exact same kid who allowed the counter attack to take place.

I was thinking the same thing. Makes absolutely no sense at all.

Outside of a couple of kids, Copa doesn't have enough pure athleticism. Great skills, smart players, super athletic? not so much.

You're exactly right, but it will only be evident over the next 24 months.

Great skills and smartness is more important than being athletic. Thats my opinion.

That is fair to have that opinion. The reality is that you need all 3 if you want to be an elite player. Athleticism goes a long way. If you are team w/o much athleticism, it will hurt you, and hurt you bad. I personally think I would take athleticism first of the 3.

And you're right. Elite players don't retire or lose their edge because they become unskilled or dumb. They lose a step: that's athleticism. There are a few that adapt because of special skill or smarts but they're a rarity.

You need to remember this is still U14. At this age group, athleticism is more noticeable than skills. By the time they reach U15/U16, you won't notice too much gaps in athleticism but skills.

I just ate an entire can of cheese whiz. I think im going to be ill. That type of diet is poor and should not be used for players training for competitive soccer. I dont think there was very much actual cheese 9bgin that whiz, to be honest.

                            Hmmmm

New to the forum....at least to adding to the convo. Maybe one of you can help me understand this. What happened to the NEU Galazios(Roma) team? They used be the dominant 99 team.

They were good but never "the dominate 99 team". My guess is the team didn't develop right. Plus NEU has no teams U15 and beyond so maybe kids just get out early.

You can't teach athleticism. You can teach skills. If you are not athletic, you will never be athletic. Give me the athletes.
