My take is they were complaining about the players, not the coach. I agree with them, but only a little. Two to three key players are consistently trying to beat the opposing team by themselves. But when they get to the 2nd or 3rd opposing player, they lose the ball. I feel most of the team, though, moves the ball well...and the key players can move the ball as well (they just have to decide to).

In the big picture, don't get caught up in losing. The athleticism begins to even out at U16 and those who can move the ball win. At U14, some teams have more young men vs. boys playing and it does make a difference (right now).

I liked the rest of your questions as they presented good discussion.
I hope you can forgive me for the poor word choice. Instead of "recruited away from", you can use "picked up from". Now that that very important issue is out of the way, can you answer any of the questions or otherwise add to the discussion?

More to the point, Can anyone here shed some light on why WT A team is not doing very well so far? New coach? Injured players? Loss of good players to Oregon Crossfire?

Following the forum for a long time-there was a dad that complained about the coach and some of the players. He insisted that it would all change with a different coach this year. Sounds like the same dad now blaming the players.

If players are losing the ball and doing so in front of the coach, then obviously the coach has reasons for letting them play that way. Knowing the coach, he has enough expertise to know what he is doing. I also know that he plays the players that he thinks should be in the game and will tell parents so. U14 year is a clumsy year so it tests the patience of many a parent.

Yes, new coaches for this age group. Yes, injuries and other things here and there. No, good players on most teams so no loss to another club. Anything can happen in a given year, especially when bodies are going through growth development and players are trying to adapt to the changes. Happens everywhere, on every team and can change up during state cup.

1-1 versus Crossfire Oregon...doesn't sound like a concern to me. Three games down, many more to follow.

You could have left it at "new coach". The rest of what you wrote was blather, pratter, jabber....

I would be very concerned with a tie to Crossfire, the team formerly known as Lake Oswego/Southside. C'mon, man!

Crossfire has gotten a lot better. More concerning is the 3-0 loss.

                  To respond to your question...

                  Beaverton Cup

in the Semifinal ET beat WS 2-1
in the Final CFC beat ET 4-0

                  Oswego Cup
CFC finished with a goal differential of of 14, 17 GF 3 GA
In the Final beat WAFC 2-0
strangely all the oregon teams other than CFC (Eastside, FC,...) played in the Silver division. It appears CFC was the only one in the gold division.

                  Mt Hood Challenge
CFC finished with a goal differential of 7, 12 GF 5 GA
in the Semifinal CFC lost to Academy Leon 1-2
strangely the only other teams in the bracket were Westside and Crossfire, neither of which advanced to the semifinals.

So far in Fall League according to OPL's website they have are 2-0 with a 9 goal differential, 11 GF, 2 GA

So why is this team playing premier level instead of NPL? Maybe they could at least give HR a run for their money.

Well, since it hasn't happened yet, I'm sure it never will...

                      But it could happen...

The Eastside and FC teams in LO Cup were B-level teams. That doesn't seem strange at all.

Had CFC won their division last season, they wouldn't have anything to complain about. Win it, otherwise play in premier division where nobody except for the above poster cares about you guys and your useless summer goal differential...

Well if there was nothing to complain about then I would never have the opportunity to interact with charming folks like yourself, my life would truly be hollow...

The poster asked how the portland teams, who were posting all sorts of excuses on how they were still in the running league wise had done against CFC.

BTW, WS Samba got promoted ahead of us on a tiebreaker, WS Samba has played three games and has only won 1. Looks like politics choose the wrong side of the tie...

Some tiebreakers go your way, others don't. WS will always get a nod over CFC.

CFC parent, i will start a thread just for you tittled 'CFC beating everyone in first div'

i am sorry you couldn't win the games that mattered last season..... but i am sure you enjoy wining 9-0 in the first div... or call it premier so you can feel better

Actually a game is a game...if I don't have to put up with obnoxious OPL parents all the better. Bottom line is "political" decisions like leaving CFC in first division do nothing but destroy any credibility OPL might have hoped to have.
