Explain how someone that has coached that long sends players to take two PK's ???????
Someone earlier said that the referee said he could use the same kickers for kickers 6-10....I can't believe that any referee would ever say anything of the sort....I did hear the referee talk about kickers 6-10 NOT being sudden death but another round of 5.....when Mr Brown heard the ref say that Mr Brown went off the deep end....this is when the ***C Coach stepped up and corrected the referee saying that no, all kickers after the fifth kicker is sudden death. The ***C Coach acknowledged to the ref and Mr Brown that ***C had lost the game on the seventh kicker....Mr Brown was very excited and while belittling the 17 year old referee he accepts the victory....
The. Someone from Eastside stepped in and let the referee and ***C Coach know that Westside copa TS used their first and second kickers also as their 6th and 7th....this is when it got a little whacko....Mr Brown acted very sheepish and his defense was that the ref told him he could use them again.....
Everyone reading this-make your own conclusion

If you break it down more....look at it this way-

***C coach and Mr Brown first were told that there is no sudden death which would've benefitted ***C at that time....if the ***C Coach had the same ethical standards as Mr Brown he would've agreed with the referee and said what the referee says is binding and we must keep going with PK's....fortunately the ***C coach stood up and politely corrected the referee and said that all PK's after the fifth are sudden death.

Me Brown on the other hand was "allegedly" told by the ref that he could use the same kickers....Mr Brown, with all of your experience and knowledge of the game and the fact that you have a responsibility to uphold the laws and integrity of the game why didn't you correct the 17 year old referee? You do know that you are a father figure, teacher and a student of the game each and everytime you step on the field.
Would you play with 20 players on the field if the referee said you could?

Just curious, were you actually on the field and listened to the conversation between the ref and the coaches? I've watched many games on the sidelines for many, many years and no matter how much I concentrate, I could never hear anything that refs and coaches say to each other unless they are yelling or shouting mad at each other. So when they discussed the rules, I doubt you actually heared what they were talking about. Many people are talking here and many versions from spectators claiming to know what actually transpired.

Yes...our game had just finished next to you...I and about 30 other spectators were within 20 ft and heard everything loud and clear...my post above is not my version...it is exactly what was said....

I forgot to add that the 17 year old referee was called a liar and a cheat.
I would like to say that I'm pretty confident that the referee wasn't lying or cheating so that ***C could win.

Nothing about my post above is "my view"....it was how the conversation went....
Just so we are clear, I do not have a dog in the fight, my DD plays for Eastside and I do not know either coach.

One would think so. Pretty tough on the Barcelona girls.

Interesting and bizarre. I actually do not know anyone from this age group. I just heared a different account of the PK drama.

Again Center Ref takes score card of attempts and made PK along with jersey number. AR stands with shooters in center field. They would not permit this unless instructed.

Even more controversy. You're saying a member of another club step onto the field that they were not even participating in and spoke to the ref. now that's even worst!!!

***C, I hope you have the full report of the game and score card with they player# of who took the kicks. Your club will need to save face as this u13g match has cause lots of negative drama and ill feelings toward your refs, your tournament, your club.

I bet this was all deliberate since WST TS had already given ***C and Eastside each a fat goose egg the previous matches and wanted to go against the Lake Washington team instead :)

It doesn't surprise me.... My DD has played both teams. We have seen both coaches and parents in action. Let's say we may have won, we may have lost I don't care, but I would much rather play *** over TS. Not because they are better or worse, because of how the girls play or I should say don't play, the parents screaming stupid sh*^ at the ref's when the ref was clearly correct and the coach ugh. It's insane, repetitive and sad.

They weren't VUSA's refs'. They use the same service as all the other clubs in the PDX/VANC. area,
                          Metro PDX Soccer.

As I said before, VUSA isn't the dominant team they once were yet. My guess is the Eastside parent was pretty confident their team would have an easier shot at winning the championship playing VUSA vs. Copa?
I know of at least one kid playing for Eastside that played for VUSA last year. I'm sure Eastside would have much rathered whipped up on V than take a chance with WS. What better way to rub your nose in it than to play in your tournament & win the divsion.

All of this controversy, poor sportsmanship, possible blatant cheating, win at all cost, name calling over a summer tournament semi-final game? Really people?

We can only imagine what will happen when these games actually count in the Fall.

It is like a car crash. You shouldn't look, but can't take your eyes away.
