Pretty sure the rules were the same for both teams and both knew what the rules were before the competition started. Too bad TT isn't quite as good.

Moral victory in the sense that people come on here to defend it.

See the post above. How is winning not "quite as good"? Did your FC girls take their pk's off-footed? So FC proved themselves better in which match against TT? The same people diminishing the loss would profess victory if they had won the shootout instead of losing.

If you read the rules, the PKs were provisional. Like the previous poster commented, only as a final tie-breaker if both teams were tied after all other tie breakers did not yield a winner.

Translation: The PKs were a formality not a necessity since FC had fewer goals against for bracket play. FC knew this going into PKs, and did not field their usual PK team. Why show what you have when it doesn't matter? It is called strategy. Did TT think they actualy won on PKs? Must have been a big disappointment for the girls. MJ should have explained this to his team. Perhaps he was not aware of the rules either.

            L. Scoring Method, Tie-Breakers, and Wildcards
            (1) Bracket Play.
The standings of teams during bracket play are based upon the number of points
earned in bracket play matches. Teams earn points as follows:
            (a) 3 Points for a Win (Forfeits are considered a 3-0 victory)
            (b) 1 Point for a Tie
            (c) 0 Points for a Loss

            (2) Tie Breaking Criteria
Except when advancing wildcards from unequal brackets, rule L(4)(c), standings within a bracket or advancement from the bracket will be determined by applying the criteria below. See rule L(3)(b) for ties among 3 or more teams and rule L(4)(b) for advancing
            wildcards from equal brackets.
            (a) Winner in head-to-head competition
            (b) Most games won
            (c) Highest goal difference (goals for minus goals against) with a maximum of four (4) goals difference per game counted both for and against
            (d) Total goals allowed
            (e) Total goals scored
            (f) Most shutouts
            (g) Kicks from the Mark
            (i) When a game in bracket play ends in a tie, FIFA Kicks from the Penalty Mark will take
place and the results will be reported separately from the tie score.
(ii) The results of the FIFA Kicks from the Penalty Mark in bracket games will only be used if two teams remain tied in their brackets after all other tie breakers have been applied.

I don't know whether anyone explained the rules or not. My dd plays on a different club. I will tell you that everyone is sick of the excuses. Your argument is that the FC coaches told the girls "hey, you aren't very good so go take pk's"? This shows the ineptitude of the FC parents. They defend a loss by calling out their own girls to a bunch of strangers. I am sure it mattered to the girls. I hope no one tells the girls taking the pk's what the parents on the team think of them.

Coach did not sub in PK squad at end of game because he knew it didn't matter. Girls are seeded first coming out of bracket play. That is what matters to them. That was the end goal for the match. Duh. How does TT feel about their second seed coming out of bracket play? And their upcoming match against TS? Sounds like there is at least one disgruntled parent along the TT sideline.

Dork. "Hey Suzy, save that extra special Neymar-Ronaldo-hybrid-twister pk for later, there might be scouts at today's match".

What was the score last time TT met TS?

                      Thought so.

Explains all the fuss over a non-issue.

I never made that argument. But you are still a dork for implying that your team is strategically planning pks. And again, my dd doesn't play for TT. The funny thing is that I don't see TT parents on here bragging about winning. I do see FC parents making excuses. I would call the excuses out no matter who played.

One parents POV...we are disappointed we didnt get the #1 seed. TT was put in Silver, so we got a tough seeding. Pretty sure no one wants to face WTS in the quarters. TT has only lost to this team of the teams left standing. Pretty sure WTS would rather have NEU or CFC as an opponent on Saturday. It is what it is. I think TT has the talent and desire to win on Saturday. TT have faced a lot of challenges over the last year. They are strong and confident. Should be a great game!

Doubt it was a TT supporter that posted that. We all knew after the game that pk's were a technicallity. But the hubris of FCP posters leading up to the game, including the quote referenced, are funny. Can never accept that they aren't invincible...
