It could be even worse at pre-ECNL ages. Looking at the ODP total counts of players on RTC rosters there is no way they are even pulling a small percentage of players no matter how good they are. I hear they don't cut for RTC. So take the 04/05s Westside which is the U11 and maybe some U12 04s. There are like 30 players on the RTC for westside pool. So Westside RTC would theoretically pull from BSC, SSC, THUSC, FC, WT and many more. Thats a huge pool of players. So you are saying 80-90 of the best players on thise clubs tried out and made the RTC? That would mean they would have had to take either 3-5 players from every team across 04/05 from every team or they took whole teams to make that roster. So lets look a little deeper.
U11 top 2 team in OYSA Premier - Pacific FC (Vancouver). Yikes. What are they drinking at Pacific FC. So no one from there would be on the westside pool.
U11 3rd place - NEU . So thats not westside. Humm.
U11 4th and 5th are THUSC and Lake O. Both are westside clubs. Humm. So that would have to mean that Westside is full of 4th and 5th place talent from CU teams. No way Jose. That basically would mean you have their whole team in ODP.
Oh but maybe some of the 04s came from top U12 teams. Lets dig deeper.
Top 4 teams from U12. THUSC, WT TS, SSC, BSC. Hum. They are all Westside. Lets say August to Dec 04s make up 50 percent of those top 4 teams. Note this is extremely optimistic given all the birth year chatter. So on 9v9 lets take a roster of 14. So thats 7,. 04s playing U12. So that means on a 30 player ODP pool with 80-90 % of best players from top teams taking spots. Hum. That means RTC has every single club's top 04s playing plus a few stragglers. No way Jose.
Basic statistics just cant be beat. ODP is not getting top talent and it certainly is not getting it from CU clubs no matter what age.

Folks are just jealous that the ECNL players don't need to do the watered down & political ODP since they will be seen plenty playing ECNL. But can't everyone just do whatever path they want and be happy? We don't need to compare apples and oranges. Different strokes for different folks. It doesn't change who the good players are either way. There are likely many more top players on the ECNL teams but there are also many top players spread out across Oregon that don't/can't do ECNL.
