It would be awesome if there were truly an elite program. The dilution of talent into three buckets pretty much relegates the programs to ones that label themselves elite but fail to address the highest level player. Great option for those who can afford it and are average good.

It's not really a problem as the 3rd bucket (Thorns Academy) didn't really attract any top talent this year. The ECNL clubs, though, got stronger this year.

Still doesn't make it elite. There are not 36 elite players at ANY given age group in the state of Oregon. Congratulations to your DD though for making it!!

Depends on where you make the cutoff between "elite" and "non-elite". It appears that there may actually be more than 36 in most age groups (although Thorns Academy girls are clearly below the cutoff line). Just that some are more elite than others.

whatever it sounds like it should be the average good league

Yep, that's what the Thorns play in. The average league.

That competition is long over. Thorns lost badly. Got skunked actually. They're just too stupid to realize it.

if you join a team because of the league they play in - you are failing your DD.

if you join a team because of what competitive tourney's they do-you are failing your DD

bottomline - the coaching at the ECNL is well below subpar. If you go look at true ECNL clubs they have top level coaching. The training and coaching is the most important thing to look for. I've personally seen sessions run by three of our local ECNL staff and it's terrible.

Looks like Angry ECNL Poster is going hog wild posting in this thread. He must have a boring life.

                        It's not THAT bad.

And yet their record was actually better than any of the Oregon ECNL teams. Losing one game in the league instead of all of them. Getting beat by a point instead of 4-7. Honestly think about what you are saying. This is the point. There is too much dilution and no one ECNL or otherwise is going to get much leverage at the higher levels without more consolidation of talent.

Are you really suggesting that FWRL and OYSA are high level leagues? Might want to reevaluate that.

You clearly were not at the game. Xfire was the one that parked the bus. BSC gave up an early 1st half deflection header own goal, then spent the rest of the game pressing hard for the equalizer. BSC was clearly the better team, they had the lion's share of possession, shots, corners, etc, just were unlucky not to get a goal. A couple just wide, off the post, some nice saves by the Xfire goalie, etc. Most of the game was in Xfire's half and they mostly just could manage counter attacks that BSC's defense did a good job of cleaning up.

IMHO, Xfire was lucky to get the win.
