CFC didn't lose anyone to ECNL at 01, they might have a discovery player but she's still officially rostered at CFC.

And it's not 70% of the top talent, its maybe 30% of kids who have parents who are crazy enough to fork over an insane amount of money at the almost guarantee their kid will have the opportunity to play in college. Money that likely could have outright paid for college had they left their kid at the club they were at and put the difference in the kids savings account.

Has anyone ever looked at the % of Eugene girls who go on the play in college? They have a list up on their website. Makes for an interesting argument on whether you need ECNL or not. Sure maybe none of those girls are on scholarship. But I would bet some of them are.
Playing at Lane CC isn't that big a deal.

And the CFC girl is rostered at an ECNL club.

I would say if you brought the top 50 talent wise players in the state together into a pool, you'd probably have about 15 of those girls at the teams playing in the elite club league teams at 2001. That is about 30%.

There is a lot of talent at Eugene and Salem. There is still a lot of talent at Vancouver and Bend. The WUSC white team has a lot of top talent.

The teams playing in the elite clue league are good, but I know the FC Portland team struggled historically against Eastside, Eugene and especially Salem.

The marketers will tell you otherwise, but the talent is still spread out.

This is exactly the bottom line.

Go to the Eugene website and tell me exactly how many of the girls who have graduated and are playing soccer now are playing at lane

Impressive. The 2013 class has 6 division I soccer players.

Division I isn't that big of a deal, smaller schools can be better, but still to have over half your team play at that level is great.

Especially if you want to play soccer on the West coast. You can get more than enough exposure the old fashion way and save tens of thousands of dollars.

If your daughter is top 30%, but not one of the standout dominant players, then you need more exposure to try to find a college to give her money.

At G01 there is almost NO top talent left at WT_FC or WUSC. Eastside has lost 3 of their top players this year. And the key player at CFC now plays for FCP. BTW, when was the last time Eugene or Eastside beat FCP?

                      Thanks Elite club marketing director.

There are a ton of top players at those clubs.

                      ETFC CFC WUSC Vancouver Bend.

More than playing on the two teams playing in the EC league by far.

You keep bringing up cfc losing a player but last I heard she is still full time at cfc. Guesting/discovery maybe.

About 1/3 of the top players in Oregon are playing on teams in the EC league.

The "filler" are the starters on Timbers Alliance teams. Truth hurts, doesn't it?

"filler" are from all the Oregon teams, there are really only 10-12 girls total who should be playing in an "elite" league. Oregon doesn't have the population to support two "elite" teams. Take the top 5 kids on CU and FCP's ECNL teams and you might have the top 10 kids in Oregon, but there is a huge likely hood the actual top kids in Oregon don't have the resources to play for an ECNL team.
