Please shed some light on this for me...it's not making sense to me. Right now just looking at the results the OYSA teams are far better ranked ( CFC Timbers #6, BSC #9, Westside Timbers #10 ) than the OPL teams you mention (FCP #12 and THUSC #17).
Then you have WA Timbers at #16 between FCP and THUSC and then Eastside Timbers bringing up the rear at #22.
You did have some consolidation last year in this age group, I believe some to FCP and some to THUSC, but I do not see it helping the results. Their are 3 teams in OYSA ranked higher than those clubs.
If you look at the data I am not seeing the advantage of moving to the clubs you listed. If you are looking to play at the top level and be challenged.
Confused why the consolidation to those clubs when ECNL doesn't start until U14 what am I missing?

The top 5 Wa teams are pretty strong and level of play is near equal. NWN and Wa Rush have struggled all year long with Rush being relegated to RCL 2 and NWN nearly being relegated themselves. In 2 years I predict the rankings will look different because of ECNL. At u14, a mass consolidation will happen where top players will move to ECNL.
I believe the same thing will happen for OR 02 group. ECNL will strengthen and a shift of talent will happen. It will be ESP interesting if the girls switch to birth year.

Spring is fun soccer. Coaches use the time to move kids around and try out new formations and positions. Many players are gone for vacations, basketball, and other activities, so benches are often quite empty or full with tentative B team players.
Spring is for building strength and diversity in a team.
The coaches know that Spring scores aren't used for ranking teams or qualifying for NWCL or FWRL (right?). Only State Cup will tell us who can rise victoriously in the end.
Tooo bad that once again, we will have 2 teams with a State Cup.

FCP is known for using spring to get time for lesser players, at least from our experience playing them through the years and having friends with dd's over there. Although CFC may have been doing the same thing? My dd's team would look competitive against FCP in the spring and then play them in state cup or fall season (when it counts) and get mopped up. Just sayin'.
If I were a FC PDX parent I would be more concerned about squeaking by with a 1-0 victory over Bend, and tying Eastside in this age bracket. I guess it's possible FC PDX is playing their bench players more...but they are not looking good against some mediocre OYSA teams.

You parents are krazy. Come back and talk to us all in three years... tell us your thoughts on the difference between age 11 and age 14. It's light years different. The ballers your talking about right now, might not even be able to keep up with anyone.

I would love to know of your daughters team as they aged how many of the starters from u11/u12/u13 are still starters at u14/u15 and on up. Also how many are still even on the team? How man of the u11/u12/u13 benchers (ones who never starters and only played to give the starters a rest) stayed and took their places in the starting line ups?
The typical pattern is that the only about 40% of the "starters" on a THUSC/FC/Xfire team at U16 were even at those clubs at U11. Most were at clubs closer to their homes and still trying to figure out what level they should be playing at. Each year girls leave the other clubs and move to THUSC/FC/Xfire. Of course, only the very best from the other clubs move as very few will move across the city to play on a "B" team, although some will. The big 3 clubs assimilate this new talent every year and develop the new players as they continue to develop the players that have been there all along. The teams get stronger and stronger, while the other club's teams get weaker and weaker. At the end of the journey, THUSC/FC/Xfire place a large percentage of their girls in competitive college programs.
