Oysa schedules are out. In GU12 Premier there are 9 teams and everyone plays 14 games. Every team plays 6 of the other 8 teams twice (12 games) and then only plays 2 of the other teams once. How was it decided which two teams a team only plays once? And are those 2 single games counted twice as far as points to make it more fair. Most teams have to play the top 2 teams (Cfc & CopaTS) twice - most likely for 4 losses total. A team like Eugene only has to play them each once. Gives teams with an easier schedule an unfair advantage in standings. Not a big deal unless top teams get access to NWCL or whatever and for bragging rights, of course but just curious how it's decided.

The 2002 RTC pools are out and there are some seriously lacking players on the girls 02 roster at out RTC area. This is our first year and I mean, seriously? I feel bad for the kids who get cut but.... They are so obviously taking money from these players who have zero chance. Better kids who play rec were cut but every single one from the club team made it regardless of ability. Sadly political and will leave the team sadly lacking.

Same in our group (maybe same). Can't vouch for anyone cut but don't know of anyone cut from our club and IMHO a few should have been cut but all made it. It is what it is.

. The tryouts are a joke. I've watched them three years in a row and you may have noticed an extreme lack of attention by the coaches. They barely play attention and rarely write anything down.
. Every year there are head scratchers on who made the team and who got cut. Last year, the best player in the state (at an older) age group got cut and a B team bench player made it. Ask the coaches about it if you want to see the "glazed over" look. I think they might have their cat draw random numbers to select the team...
. The training and experience of working with other coaches and players is OUTSTANDING. At least with my two girls. It's what $400 and you get $200 worth of gear (now nike). Good coaches, training, networking.
Not perfect but 100% worth it.

Some of the problem is kids do well in a Tryout atmosphere their able to do outstanding footwork and what not but game time comes and they shut down. If the coaches don't know the player's back grounds I would say that's how some kids slip through and others do not.

I would completely disagree.
Except the gear is nicer then in the past. It's simply a money grab, they take WAY TOO MANY kids. The coaching is different, but not necessarily better (depending on your club). At younger ages I think you would be better off building individual skills say with a trainer with that money then playing monkey in the middle once a week.

My girl has a late in the year bday so her pool has strong players from her age group (u13) and the next age up (u14 girls with early in the calendar year bdays). She's getting to play and develop relationships with girls from other clubs who for the most part work just as hard as she does. She gets a fresh perspective from a different coach too. For us it's money well spent.
