Copa? DO they even have a U12 team any more? And BSC? What team on this list have they even played let alone beaten? But I am sure who ever posted this was just trying to get a reaction from FC or THUSC.

Looking at my DD's team, the rankings are not accurate. They have some events listed they did not attend and missing others she did. This ranking and the 'Got soccer' rankings are subjective as to how accurate the data is that is given to them. Usually, the data is submitted by a coach/manager and depending on often it's updated that rankings flux. Then there are the coaches that live on rankings pages and teams playing in tons of lousy tourneys. For all we know there is no T/S team, not that it would matter.

All of the match data is taken from published league and tournament websites and a significant amount of time is consumed trying to ensure that the right data is applied to the right teams (some teams use several different names depending upon the events they are entered in). We'd be interested to know what you believe the errors to be so we can correct them.

At this time of year there is some change inherent in the tryout process also. Teams disappear and new teams are created, seemingly out of thin air. Often it's fairly straightforward to determine what happened, but sometimes we have to make an educated guess. Also, teams that no longer exist will continue to show in the rankings for 3 months and any team will drop from the rankings if they haven't played a game in 3 months. As soon as they play again, they will automaticall show up in the rankings again.

The lastplanet rankings are completely objective. The only inputs to the algorithm are the team names, the goals scored, the field type (turf or grass) and the format (8v8, 9v9, or 11v11). From there the statistical model takes over and works it's way through every game in date sequence. It predicts what the score of each game should have been and then compares that to the actual score. If a team scores more goals than predicted then their attack strength increases. If they allow more than predicted then their defense strength decreases. The combination of the two strength ratings becomes the overall rating.

Some interesting tidbits:

More goals are scored on grass than on turf (about 1 more per game)
More goals are scored at 8v8 or 9v9 than at 11v11 (about 1 more per game)
Home teams win more than visitors by a significant margin. Strangely, this even applies to tournaments where neither team is "home". Just being listed as the "home" team seems to be an advantage...

Where is ***C Reds? They did really well last year.

They are a Washington team, these are all Oregon teams, but if you went by the Or/Wa filter then they'd be 3 in Oregon.

Heard FC, WUSC & Eugene all added good players. Guessibg TS & CFC held strong after tryouts. Anyone else gain/lose/change enough to move up or down the rankings? At this age, a little change can make a big difference. Plus, puberty is hitting so many players change a ton on an individual basis.
