I would agree 5 goals against is very impressive at this age.

44 is a lot of goals, if you look at Gu11 the previous 3 years the most any team had was 45 goals.

They only played 12 games in 2010.

If the archives went back another year or two you'd see some more teams with better goal differential. Really, calm down its U11 soccer.

Agreed. Check out U12 for 2010. 63 goals for and 4 against and that was in 12 games. Would love to see their U11 stats.

Yes, the ***c parents are very excited . As you get older the goals against play bigger part. Usually, at older levels premier are not big scoring games so, defense is key to being successful. I think this is very true when you compete with teams up North. I think this was true with NWCL.

Ok, so what I take from this is if your DD is thinking of trying out for ***c next year if she is offensive player probably won't see much need for those types of players. Same for defense on TS for defense. Seems like Eastside and THUSC may be in need to go to next level. Looks like also Portland FC may also be looking. It will be sad as next year the teams will be split with the two leagues. Timbers teams leaving OPL.

Keepers at this age

There virtually no keepers at this age group so 44 goals isn't all that impressive. I was more impressed with T/S only allowing 5 goals. Many teams in the past have scored more goals.

It's a tough position for a young lady at 11 to get excited about and there is a few teams in this division that have real strong kids in the box. Easy in your generalized statements. We have one more day of games left. I still dont see a score though for the TS game.

First lets congratulate ***C for clinching 1st place in the NPL division today. 44 goals is extremely impressive.

If VFC loss today then the 4 teams who made NWCL this year are the top 4 in fall league. I guess its fair to say the right teams went to NWCL this year. And they finished in the same order they did in NWCL. Impressive.

Looking at the Premier division I would actually drop the bottom 3 in this league: FCSC, Copa, and FC Portland and Move up: CFC, WUSC, and BSC

Nice thing is you took over fcsc parents and all the teams in league will have a common bond now when they play this team. So I wake up this morning dead tired with a text message asking me about this. For those that know the term black knight, its from my time posting on Washington Premier Soccer, and was the screen name I used. I'll start by saying no it wasn't me posting on here as I haven't bothered to look on here in a long time. I'm not really a big fan of this site simply because nobody has to log in so you get a lot of negativity. Looking at when the posts were done which I was given credit with, I can honestly say I was out working last night. I also am not a fan of posting about my own teams, because it just brings unneeded attention to yourself and the team. With that being said I will be sure to remind my parents that these sorts of threads really don't help anyone. I want to apologize if anyoen got the wrong idea about this team as they really are a great group to work with and they truly do go out and try their best every day. These are 10 and 11 year olds and to get so crazy about them I think is kind of funny. If you have any question about them I encourage you to reach out and ask me directly, and I am always open to having a discussion and talking soccer.

Well its pretty easy to figure this out from 2010-2012 (3 seasons) at Gu11 the top scoring teams in the NPL division

2012: CFC Red 28 goals, FC Portland 27 goals, Vancouver Timbers 22 goals
2011: FCSC 45 goals, FC portland 40 goals, Eastside 36 goals
2010: FCSC 27 goals, FC Portland 27 goals, WUSC 22 goals

So over the past 4 years only 1 team has had more goals, and only 3 (if you count ***C) have 40 or more goals

On a side note the top defensive teams in the past 4 years
FCSC 99: 2 Goals against
FC Portland 99: 3 Goals against
Westside Copa TS 02: 5 goals against
United SA 99: 7 goals against

So we are lucky enough this year to have a Westside team who currently would be 3rd in goals against in the last 4 years in the NPL and a ***C team who currently would be 2nd in the past 4 years in the NPL in goals for.

This offseason will be interesting to see what happens. It may seem obvious, but at this age I think one of the keys will be whether the coaches drew their players toward soccer or drove them away. Will the players be motivated to participate in developmental programs? And are those programs for the various clubs effective?

I think there are several common excuses for a regression at early spring (e.g. multi-sports, time off, experimentation), but are there deeper issues in the current state of affairs?
