How is this a stupid question when I'm moving to the area from Washington and looking for a team for my daughter at this age? I don't care who is the winning team, I want a team with a good coach.

How dare you question my sincerity. What is wrong with Herr Niedermeyer? Do you have someone better in mind? Perhaps Joachin Baranho, in Sao Paolo (forgive me that I cannot recall the team)
These two coaches are definitely one and two for best coaches for G02. Although it IS debatable which is best.
Any given day....

what I would recommend instead is if you are moving to the area reach out and contact the coaches in the area and talk to them. Get a feel for who they are, and then try to have your DD go out to a training session or two to see how they work with the kids and if its a good place for your DD. Lets be honest the best coach in the world doesn't get through to every kid. You just want to have your DD play for the person who will work the best with your DD.
also if you trust your current coach ask for their input. I wouldn't say listen to 100% of what they say, but they might have some input on the clubs/coaches down here.
As far as what I have seen so far this year:
***C seems to work on more individual skills. Talking to a few of the parents the coach does seem to encourage possession, but at their current age he also wants them to feel confident on the ball even if that means a few more turnovers.
Westside is very similar to what I heard about ***C.
Eastside coach seems to really stress possession. When i talked to one of their parents their only concern was there DD wasn't feeling confident on the ball because she felt she needed to pass it every time she got it, and do it quickly. (thats one of the debates about possession at this age, there are plenty of threads about that on here, so no reason going into it again)
Thusc seems to stress individual skills. Just from my observations they haven't developed nearly as much as I would have expected this year. At the beginning they seemed to be right up there with the top 2 teams, but eastside caught them, and I just haven't seen much.
VFC not in the area.
FCSC I would not go to. Coach screams at the ref all game, and she has 3 teams total which makes it difficult to spend time with this team (considering her daughter is on the older team). Haven't seen much individual development on this team.
Westside Copa, if your going to go to westside try to get on the TS team.
FC Portland at this age really struggled against the other teams. They are trying to work on individual skills, but I just wasn't seeing it this year. They seem to have gone the other direction.
*** Of course how I put it earlier theres no reason to trust my comments because you don't know me, and I'm sure there are plenty of people that will say I was wrong with most of these because they will talk up their own club***
Maybe if you said what area of Portland you are moving to we could help narrow down your choices.

a couple of quick questions:
Where are you moving from?
Where are you moving to?
What club did your daughter play for?

I would eliminated: ***C, FCSC (both vancouver, the drive would be HORRIBLE) and probably Eastside as well.
From whats left I would probably choose westside, Lake Oswego, BSC, or WUSC.

Seattle United

However looking forward to U14 and above you will see it is a strong group when the age groups begin to matter. Field space, Coaching and profesionally run. You can check all three boxes with FC. And they need the kids in this age group. Question is really on location if you are not moving to West side it is a tough commute. If you are on Eastside of town... Eastside Timbers is best choice and also a quality club.
