I was lucky enough to be up at NWCL this weekend and managed to watch every U11 team from the OPL and some thoughts came up.

There has been lots of talk about the top 2 teams, but lets give them credit for competing and doing a decent job against the Seattle teams. ***C earned first place and only loss to 1 team from seattle. Regardless what you think that is impressive. It looked like their coach was trying some new things this weekend. I say that because I'm not sure where all his players normally play, but in the game I watched he was switching players on the field a few different times, and I was hearing comments from the parents like "well this will be interesting" and "wonder if she knows what to do there". Westside came out and got the Wins they needed to get. Overall it was good to see them compete and they earned their spot.

Eastside is probably the most improved team this year. They are struggling to get goals, but overall they were competing well. The sad thing is they are clearly the 3rd best team right now and only managed 2 ties and 4 losses.

Thusc, what happened to them? I kept hearing how they were developing and improving but they just got hammered in NWCL. They managed 1 tie the entire time, and crossfire put 7 goals in? 4 goals for and 19 against

I was fortunate to watch watch a few games as well. I was able to watch ***C they really appeared to be struggling against other teams (Saturday games). Did not appear to make much growth since I saw them this summer. Noted they did move some players around but, moving players around does not always equal development. They clearly don't practice possession ball as much as the other team they were playing against. I noted some parents making comments on sidelines concern not developing team. I think this may be true as I note league play seems like the other teams are drawing closer each game. Teams ***C would beat pretty bad beginning of year they are struggling to beat now.

Eastside looked pretty good. They seem to have overall better girls with individual ball skills if you compare back lines (defense). More then just kick ball forward thought from defense and that would have to be coaching. They don't seem to have the "super fast" girl on front line to rely on for the goals like ***C but, that might be a good thing in the end as they don't depend on one or two players for the goals. Perhaps that's why so many on the forum agree Eastside has developed the most.

I was not able to get to see THUSC play so I would be interested in any comments from parents who watched them. The few games I have seen with THUSC they are moving ball well around just not getting it into net. They do try to play more then direct ball.

My predictions looking at how teams have been playing is that although ***C is top on wins by time State cup comes they will be really be struggling. The coach does not seem to get what true possession ball is (hopefully he watched the first Saturday game and took notes how nice the defense worked to include the goalie to move the ball) not every ball was to kick it forward. Coach has lots of natural athletes but, takes more then that to win at older ages. They appear to play the same as they did this summer. Eastside will overtake them by next year as they really appear to be ones working on possession the most out of all the teams. If they get one or two more solid girls they will become the team to beat.

Not only do you sound like a complete nutjob who knows very little about 10 year old girls playing soccer, you sound extremely creepy with the idea that you trolled games of 10 year old girls.

Fyi, if 10 year olds are working on possession....the coach is doing something extremely wrong. At 10 years old, players aren't even efficent individually. If my coach was teaching kids to get the ball off their feet at 10 years old I would jump ship in a hurry.

It's pretty clear you have very little importance in your life but trying to figure out 10'year old girls soccer. You are about as smart as the 10 year olds you are stalking.

Our team only took 14 and our coach prepped us as to why before we went....he wanted more playing time for everyone...our team is a guest playing machine....we constantly see guest players all year long so it was a nice change....***C has a guest player policy according to our coach

Exactly my point... more playing time for a select few, not everyone! The "other" everyones got left home. So i'm curious, are the guest players from your second squad? Unfortunately, I think the roster size is a difficult choice that most OR teams must make given our smaller club sizes and the depth of talent at the Seattle clubs.

All of the best players will be heading to OPL clubs this winter/spring anyways. The decline of TA girls teams will only accelerate.

Not stalker just had games around same time as other teams. I guess all the Seattle teams in the NWCL must have it wrong to teach possession ball so early. That's why ***C looked so dominate playing those other teams. Obviously, you must not be a big fan of possession soccer. Take it your DD is more of a direct type of player. Coach must love her as he appears to be in the same mindset.

Yes we will and you will be wrong. Eastside is no where near the team ***C is. ***C easily moves the ball around as good as eastside but they also happen to have better athletes. You cannot coach athleticism. The athletes will continue to add skill and develop. But the non athlete will never develop the athleticism. I do not have a dd on ***C but I am certain they are and will always be ahead of eastside.

You must now know how important passing quickly is at older ages. Didn't Eastside play ***C a few times this season. How where those games? My observation is ***C is all about the fast forwards when they play. Coaches figure that out quick.
