Except in ODP and in college. Many coaches look at size. I heard many coaches choose players based on size with the hopes that they will develop. PAC 12 tends to have taller players than the WCC.

Westside was very direct, and I heard the coach yell "1 time" more than any coach before. Everytime someone besides there top 2 or 3 girls got the ball he kept yelling "1 time" it worked well as they didn't make many mistakes and were able to keep the attack going. ***C overall was probably a little better on the ball but against the speed of westside struggled to get any real possession going. But like I said before, if you take out the keeper mistakes the game was 2-1 or maybe 3-1 but westside deserved the win. Closer than 5-1 though. The final 3 goals all came in the last 10-15 mins.

Thank you for the nice recap. I have been following these teams and the lopsided win did seem strange. Tough break for ***C - hope the keeper isn't out for too long but at least this gives the back up keeper some good development time! It seems at U11 having even one of your best out due to injury or vacation can really hurt.

The keeper I have seen for ***C before was on crutches during the game, and I saw a different person in goal which caused 2 or 3 of the goals against.

I always cringe when I hear of players on crutches, no matter the age.
With that being said, summer games are always fun to watch as teams are challenged by a limited bench.
Sumer tournaments with competition coming from out of state or our teams traveling out of state, are always interesting too. A lot of these other states have club tryouts in March/April so more training time compared to our teams. Canadian teams have a completely different schedule with most summer tournament entries being developmental trainers' teams.
So a limited bench and gpod competition makes for a fun time to enjoy these developmental years of play.

Some good comments. This weekend should be good for ***C. Losing isn't a bad thing, as you learn a lot more from losing then you do winning. Its not always fun, but its necessary. I think this year will be fun as we see Copa TS, Thusc, and ***C really push each other.

Eugene may be a sleeper. One of their best is moving but they tied Thusc 1-1 and lost to ***C Reds in United Cup championship 3-1 playing both games with many of their B team.

I'll try for another fair recap. ***C beat Thusc 4-3. Overall ***C had better passing and a bit more of the play. It was a entertaining game to watch though. In all honesty though the game probably should have finished 4-2 or 4-1, the ***C back up keeper had a few bad mistakes that a normal keeper doesn't make that let in goals.
However, if Thusc can get a win over Westside they will most likely move on with Westside due to goal Differential. If westside ties or wins then its them and ***C that will move forward.

Looks like Westside won 1-0 over Thusc. From what I have seen it looks like Westside is the top team in the state right now, with ***C just behind them. Thusc has had 2 games against Westside TS and 2 games against ***C this year and have lost all 4 games, so I think its clear to say they are just behind those two at the moment.
Eastside is a sleeper team to me. They qualified for NWCL, and watching them play they are big, strong, and athletic. On any given day (since these are 10/11 year olds) they could show up and beat any of the top 3 teams.
What the heck is up with Westside Copa? They have got to be one of the most bi polar teams. One weekend they beat Westside TS, then they lose to FC portland, but finish up beaverton beating CFC, then they lose to Lake Oswego Defeeters which got hammered last weekend? its just confusing.
