    A few thoughts.

First the Beaverton cup does decide the NWCL this year.

There will be upsets this summer, but from what I have seen ***C Red passes and looks to play possession far more than most the other teams for this age group. Being 10 years old mistakes will happen and games will be lost due to this, but its nice to see them trying something rather then just booting the ball. On the flip side from what I have seen from FCSC they try to play direct and pressure you to create mistakes. Its a decent tactic to win games at this age, but it does absolutely nothing to develop the players at this age.

Its the whole debate of whats more important to you, getting a few results at ten years old or keeping your eye on the big picture.

You're just jealous fcsc won the Cascadia challenge;-). it's easy to look like a good passing team when you're kicking the crap out of inferior competitions in a crappy tournament(united). yeah I know Cascadia isn't much better than United, but at least FCSC played a couple of legitimate premier teams. not trying to say *** is not a good team, just that I think you're taking it a bit too far. can't wait for Beaverton cup hope they get to play each other

Your so right on. Keep you eye on the big picture. Don't see to many premier teams playing boot ball at U16/17.

Does anyone know more about Portland FC at this age group? Which clubs will have teams that could compete with Seattle Crossfire teams?

Your showing exactly why some of our good teams don't compete at higher levels. They are so obsessed with beating each other and getting wins that they sacrifice development just to win.

The fact is If FCSC did beat ***C this year that would make their season. That is as big as their vision is. They are too obsessed with beating ***C teams (talking about the whole club), when if they really wanted to be a top team then who cares about 1 win here and there. Instead Aim for something higher like beating the seattle teams.

And for the record not sure why your bragging about a 1-1-1 record in pool play and squeaking out a 1-0 win in the finals.

Definitely not obsessed with ***. If you re read the post you'll see that it was a little more tongue in cheek then bragging , as both tournaments are crap. Funny how one of the *** parents says it's about development and yet they sign up for a crappy tournament with weak teams just so they can pound the crap out of them To get a win. Cascadia was our first competition as a new team And very far from our best soccer. Yeah, we didn't blow anybody out by 10 or 11 points, But your best development happens in close games against tough competition. and our loss was 1-0 to East Side who we beat in the championship game.Oh and by the way We're going to do the Federal Way blast off, not exactly one of the big travel tournaments up in the Seattle area, But it's a start.

Good luck at Federal way, FWFC is a decent team, but outside of that you will probably play all B/C teams there.

Thank you. we know it's not going to be the stiffest competition but think that will be a great bonding opportunity for the girls since there are a lot of new faces on the team. hope you're not right about a lot of B&C teams but again it is about the experience

LOL! You're doing exactly what you wrongly lectured that other poster about. Reread the post and then pull your head out.

Last year for this age group, outside of the host club, there was blackhills, fc alliance C team, eastside B and C teams and WPFC B team... that was the gold division. Its never been known as a tournament where any premier A teams go to.

If you look at the other age groups you wont see any of the good premier A teams in any of them. You see clubs like Sparta or legacy

I really appreciate the civil conversation, don't get much of that on here.
From what I understand aren't east side and WPFC B teams still better than most OPL premier teams?

As you get older usually a few of their B teams will compete with the premier OPL teams. But overall their B teams are usually about even with the top B teams in portland, but better than the average B team. a lot of it is because of the amount of clubs in the area. Parents tend to want their kids on A teams so if they are a bubble player and would be a star on the B team often they will go play for an A team of a close club instead.

their B teams often get beat pretty badly by the good A teams up there.

In describing the blast off. You will rarely see a top division team in washington or oregon attending that tournament. You will often see A teams from the 2nd and 3rd divisioni and then the B teams from the top division teams attending it.

No. They are correct. Get a life!! Why the heck would you be going on other state talking blogs?

The answer should be obvious. To get perspective!

A better question: Why do the Washington Timbers spend so much time on the Oregon forum?
