Nike challenge cup. The experience a team can get from an out of town tournament can be great for them but you should be winning atleast 60% of the games you play if your going to travel that far.

1. Initially GotSoccer was more flexible in determining tournament ranking based on the quality of the teams entered and the number attending from out of state. Then problems began when "prestigious" teams/tournaments started to complain. If a tournament has USYSA state champs, regional finalists or champs, or national entries, and only if those entries place in the tournament, does the tournament get ranked higher. However, if those entries are eliminated in preliminary rounds by lesser-ranked teams (which has happened in Oregon), the tournament ranking does not go up.
2. As GotSoccer grew it became a full time job for Gavin. He hired staff and the marketing advertising priority also meant inclusion and rankings for subscription clubs. Best example here is Mike Morris, former coordinator of Southside's Chinook Cup. Definitely not a better tournament than THUSC, FC Portland, LOSC, and Westside tournaments. Mike could persuade GotSoccer that everyone was attending the Chinook above other local tournaments. So untrue and not as challenging. Yet the Chinook would get moved back up after lackluster results bumped it down. Suspicious! Now Mike is a professional tournament planner and his clients' tournaments always do well in rankings. Suspicious again! Gavin also moved away from California and admits that he no longer is the pulse of things on the site.
These rankings are done by a software system with some huma-input manipulation and does help for basic points of reference but in now way, are they accurate assessments of a tournament's value to teams attending in a specific year.

Best to enjoy your daughters experience and not get too caught up in the numbers.
One daughter played at a "top" club and the other at a local club. They both went on to play high school soccer with either one I doubt getting offers to play at colleges (or at least colleges they want to attend). The daughter that went to the local club still has friends from her classic soccer team that she stays in touch with and sees (some are really good friend). The daughter that went to the name club doesn't really keep in touch with any of those players.
Just something else to factor in when deciding where your daughter should go and what to hope to get out of the experience.

***C red won 3-1 over EMFC.
EMFC has some very athletic fast players, and attacked very aggressive on counters.
***C played more ball control and side to side switching the ball.
The first half seemed pretty back and forth with both teams creating some good chances. ***C went up 1-0 by half and had a few more shots on goal.
The first 20 mins of the 2nd half was pretty much all ***C. During that time they scored 2 more to go up 3-0 and pretty much controlled the game. The last five mins were getting intense as EMFC threw everything they had forward.

Emfc playing summer tourneys with quite a few players from the B team that need to get playing time too. ***C may have been in the same situation though. Like all teams, EMFC will be more competitive without the B players on roster. At this age, more about development. EMFC's main trouble is the very small pool of players. Tough to stay competitive.

EMFC strong group though. Anyone know if ***C was playing with their best squad? Another team to watch out for is Sherwood's - they've outplayed EMFC several times. Like to see how Sherwood vs ***C Red match up. Anyone know what tournaments Sherwood is playing in?

Like everyone ***C will lose some games this summer, but I think whoever said it earlier was right. When fall league comes ***C will be the team to beat in league.

This thread is hilarious. discussing U11's prior to a fall season is fool hearty. Discussing U11's at a crap tourney like the United Cup is just corny.

Don't know if your post is some kind of attempt to create negativity on this discussion, but the only fool hearty crap . . . now see there I go falling into your trap.
Hope you have a nice day.
