    It's U13, a big year for injuries

When it comes down to it, the reigning State Cup Champion will have a lot to do with the health of the overall teams.

It's U13 girls. The girls are growing, their bodies are shifting, and they are getting injured. I can't imagine there's a team that's 100% healthy.

Yes, skills, speed, strength - they all play a HUGE role. But if teams are injured and bringing up too many B teamers who aren't used to the speed of play, things happen, and the better team doesn't always win.

      Reffing counts

I hate to say it, but the refs can make or break a game too.

Some refs tend to think, "These are girls, they don't mean to foul. They don't know any better." And when refs don't do their part, certain teams take advantage and change the game from soccer to thug ball.

It's hard to play REAL soccer when the opponent is pushing, shoving, and knocking others to the ground - and sending them to the bench.

It's going to be a fun Spring.

Agree. OYSA refs give out a ridiculously low number of yellows & reds (check OYSA) to girls. Many basically call no fouls and the games get out of hand. Girl's soccer has become more like rugby. I believe that's another reason girls suffer way more concussions than the boys.

I predict whomever wins spring league will not win State Cup.

Many teams try new things & work more on development in spring league so anything can happen in league rankings. Teams all change to win-mode for State Cup games so that is when the cream will rise to the top. I bet the State Cup champion is more often the Fall League champ than the spring league. That said, the Spring league chance is likely in the running.

Not a real problem if you have a deep bench, or an academy system, where you have dozens of girls to draw from. Next girl up!

Yeah, if you're just looking to put a body on the field but 18th on the depth chart usually can't fill the shoes of a top 5 player. No Oregon clubs are that deep.

Lol. This thread for little girls has 575 pages of comments. So funny. Thanks.

Once the girls hit high school age & the parents realize little Suzie isn't really going to make the Olympic/WC team, they all drop off TS. Except the crazies. No one has posted on the 1999 thread for ages.

Funny. The original post said the same thing in only 1/4 of the words. Last year's fall league Champs came in second at state. I think same will happen this year.

this is wrong, CFC won league last fall, and Washington Timbers came in 2nd at state cup.

Any know when the OYSA spring schedules will be out? Do games start the first weekend in February?

Schedules for the first 3 weekends will be out by next week. The balance will be out around February 1.

Thank you. With 3 kids playing multiple sports, it's nice to get schedules as soon as possible.
