Getting in line early does nothing, CU or FCP will take your DD anytime if she is talented enough, even after tryouts.

The only downside is missing a year of practicing with some of the better players, more often. There's a lot of growth that will be missed there. Then there's the competition. It's pretty clear the speed, physicality, and the need for better mechanics/technical abilities are needed to compete. Even with the joining of OPL/OYSA it's been pretty clear this fall that there just isn't the well rounded premier league needed to challenge some of these players. They will need to work hard not to 'drift' behind.
I'm familiar with one of the ECNL groups, and they took about four or five new bodies at U15, as some on the previous team opted not to continue with it into H.S. or went to greener pastures (WA / ECNL)

The confusing thing to me in this whole debate. If your "ENCL" club is so great, and the training is so amazing at young ages. Why are you saying that half of other teams will leave at U14 to go to the ENCL. Shouldn't you already have most the great players in the area because of the training prior to that? or are you saying other clubs are training there kids to be better than the ones arleady within your club so they take all their spots.

To those parents whose kids are already in the pre-ecnl teams, be careful what you wish for. Recruiting some of the girls from the other teams will most likely displace your own daughter. She will be left warming up the bench. Worse, will play in the reserve team.

U.S. Soccer wants her on the regional team (& still has a shot at National pool/team) so she must be one of the best in the nation. Soccer is a subjective sport. A player can be "technically & tactically" all that but it doesn't mean a thing unless the evaluators (whether U.S. Soccer or college recruiters) see it the same way. Whatever she does have is good enough to take her to Florida and maybe beyond, leaving the rest of our kids in the little swamp that is Oregon soccer. I'm envious too but good on her!
