Like CFC, they are doing well now at u14. Repeating u14 with the majority of their already very strong teams in tact will make both teams even stronger next year.
Should go watch an ECNL training session some time. The "star" is about 3 years behind technically AND tactically.

Get ready - 2003's will be ECNL next year. ECNL age groups will be U13-U16, U18

Save your money, ecnl isn't needed until at least U15, no colleges are scouting 7/8th grade girls. If they are that strong, they will make ODP Regional team and get plenty of exposure there.

Getting in line early does nothing, CU or FCP will take your DD anytime if she is talented enough, even after tryouts.

Jealous much? She's the best player in this state.

Is the same girl that just made the Regional team? Aren't they going to Florida next month? Jealous much??? I don't know her but it would appear that someone thinks she has what it takes... Maybe you would feel different about her if she was on "your" team.. Wait! I mean your daughter, she is the one who is playing right? Unless you decided that living your life through her isn't enough that you decided to start going public in her clothes, instead of the closet...

Yep, we saw no one 'scouting' at U14 ECNL matches and you're correct, they will take your kid. It's competitive, so they take the best that show up.

The only downside is missing a year of practicing with some of the better players, more often. There's a lot of growth that will be missed there. Then there's the competition. It's pretty clear the speed, physicality, and the need for better mechanics/technical abilities are needed to compete. Even with the joining of OPL/OYSA it's been pretty clear this fall that there just isn't the well rounded premier league needed to challenge some of these players. They will need to work hard not to 'drift' behind.

I'm familiar with one of the ECNL groups, and they took about four or five new bodies at U15, as some on the previous team opted not to continue with it into H.S. or went to greener pastures (WA / ECNL)

Disagree but even if you're right, the folks who matter think she's better than all the other 2002s in the state and almost all in the entire Region! U.S. Soccer wants her on the regional team (& still has a shot at National pool/team) so she must be one of the best in the nation. Soccer is a subjective sport. A player can be "technically & tactically" all that but it doesn't mean a thing unless the evaluators (whether U.S. Soccer or college recruiters) see it the same way. Whatever she does have is good enough to take her to Florida and maybe beyond, leaving the rest of our kids in the little swamp that is Oregon soccer. I'm envious too but good on her!

Training with the other ECNL players has caught her up quickly. Thanks to your daughters, she's off to Regional team. Next up, her ECNL teammates will help her get a nice D1 full ride.

The confusing thing to me in this whole debate. If your "ENCL" club is so great, and the training is so amazing at young ages. Why are you saying that half of other teams will leave at U14 to go to the ENCL. Shouldn't you already have most the great players in the area because of the training prior to that? or are you saying other clubs are training there kids to be better than the ones arleady within your club so they take all their spots.

OP. agreed, they will fall behind if they are the superstar playing on a 2nd/3rd Tier team but if they are playing in OYSA Prem, NWCL/FWRL, have skilled teammates to play with and have a good coach, they should be getting some good development. But I do agree, the speed and physical play in ecnl is at a level above most OYSA Prem games. The question is if that's the best thing for a developing player? Does it benefit a 7th or 8th grade girl that is just learning to be creative and maybe still developing physically, to get closed down and hammered every time that she is on the ball by bigger more physical players or is a slightly slower paced game give her the time to learn the game and develop into a better player?

To those parents whose kids are already in the pre-ecnl teams, be careful what you wish for. Recruiting some of the girls from the other teams will most likely displace your own daughter. She will be left warming up the bench. Worse, will play in the reserve team.

Being the best that tried out doesn't mean much

It does in my book. I wish my daughter was on a regional ODP team and headed to nationals. Pretty fun for a 12/13yr old. But I'm sure your little Suzy is the best player in her backyard, good for you, keep her at home.
